Kelly the Dog Posted November 7, 2014 Posted November 7, 2014 That is how I hold a loaf of bread. You don't want to grip it too tight or you will squish it. I'm talking bakery style bread, not Wonder Bread that you hold by the end of the bag... You hold the loaf of bread with your outstretched arm way away from your body, just squeezing the the top of the loaf really tight?
TheFunPolice Posted November 7, 2014 Posted November 7, 2014 Is Kujo really that bad? How the heck did Whaley miss like that?
FireChan Posted November 7, 2014 Posted November 7, 2014 You hold the loaf of bread with your outstretched arm way away from your body, just squeezing the the top of the loaf really tight? Maybe they're talking about baguettes. Is Kujo really that bad? How the heck did Whaley miss like that? IIRC Kujo was one of those risk/reward picks. Could've been a first rounder but had some health concerns that made him slip to the second. At least, that's what I think I read. It's a similar type of pick that the Chargers had with Keenan Allen, it can blow up in your face or be a fantastic choice.
thewildrabbit Posted November 7, 2014 Posted November 7, 2014 Just because they suck doesn't mean we ignored the position. Quit moving the goal posts. We've tried to draft O-linemen. Find a new drum to beat. Boy, I can't wait for the offseason. I can see it now. "The Bills need to take a high round prospect. They should take (insert the 5 best o-line prospects, 3 of which will bust, 1 who will be average at best, and one who will be good)." Then you'll get to pat yourself on the back about being so high on the one guy who plays well all year, while complaining that we ignore the position, even if our first pick is an OG. I feel like Nostradamus. If the O line wasn't an issue I wouldn't be talking about it. As it stand the Bills are currently fielding the worst unit in the NFL. So, Go away!
jr1 Posted November 7, 2014 Posted November 7, 2014 Dalton won a Miller Lite contest to be a QB for a week

Kirby Jackson Posted November 7, 2014 Posted November 7, 2014 While I agree with you that they have tried to address the line to some degree. It was Jauron that took Wood with a #1 in 09, and that was with the 2nd #1 pick. Since then it was Nix with Glenn with a #2 in a 3 year period. Now in his second year Whaley tried to address the OT with a #2 that failed, and the OG positions continue to be bad-aided. I just feel the Bills simply haven't put enough effort into finding quality talent for that line over the last three regimes (5 years). Then look at the backup situation along the entire line, its a joke! The Browns fill in the center position with a URFA, and that player out performs any player on the Bills line this year. But yea, the Bills still have serious issues with O line talent evaluation! I gotta wonder is its the analytic department that is trying to moneyball the OG position. They need to get someone in the scouting department that is an OL specialist. They need to get OGs and the scheme doesn't do them any favors either. Like I said, I don't debate that they aren't good. The OL is the weakest unit on the team. I just take issue with the thought it has been neglected. I would like to see a veteran guard (not a scrub, a starter) and another one drafted. I would like to see if CK can play at all. I would like to see if Richardson can be developed. He was one of the top OGs in college but clearly struggles in pass protection. I'd even like to see Hairston get a chance. He was decent when pressed into action a few years back. I don't care if I ever see Chris Williams or Pears play another snap. They just haven't figured out to develop the young guys or identify the right guys in FA.

TheFunPolice Posted November 7, 2014 Posted November 7, 2014 Why is finding ol so hard? It seems like big strong agile guys are what you need
Kelly the Dog Posted November 7, 2014 Posted November 7, 2014 Maybe they're talking about baguettes. You're right. They need to change that saying. I think the first player ever to hold a football like a baguette was Frenchy Fuqua.
FireChan Posted November 7, 2014 Posted November 7, 2014 Do us both a favor, and stop quoting me. Simply go away! Find someone else to troll at. Sorry, I'm just so sick of Buddy Nix and Doug Whaley ignoring the cornerback position, and I took it out on you. Won't happen again.
Kelly the Dog Posted November 7, 2014 Posted November 7, 2014 Has anyone ever seen FireChan and FearTheLosing in the same room at the same time? I think they may be the same person, or two parts of a multiple, and like to argue with each other.

I take exception because of the slew of scrubs they have tried to throw at that position to see if any stick on the wall. While you may consider bringing in warm bodies to fill a position is addressing the position. Its my stance that the way it should have been approached is with a first or second rounder at OG. Guess what, it was OG Joel Bitonio who had that +8.3 run blocking grade. Like I said, look at the depth behind some of the current starters who suck, there isn't any that I can see.

I do enjoy discussing things with people like Kirby who want to have an actual conversation, even if it is redundant at times Edited November 7, 2014 by FeartheLosing

They tried to get a starter in the 2nd though. They failed. If the Bills selected Gabe Jackson instead of CK we all would be thrilled with the young OL. They would have pulled 2 talented starters out. CK is the issue. He was in no way meant to be a warm body. He was supposed to have an impact pretty much like Bitonio. If he was the same player we would be thrilled. It's easy to say do that in hindsight. Both teams used the same asset on players at the same position. One has flourished and one has floundered. The Bills need to select the right guys but the assets were allocated. They should have resigned Rinehart when it was clear that Levitre was going. Another option would have been to sign Moore from the Jets.
Kelly the Dog Posted November 7, 2014 Posted November 7, 2014 Dalton had a passer rating of 2.0. The fifth worst of any QB since 1960 who threw at least 30 passes. Our very own Gary Marangi was one of them worse at 0.0. http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2014/11/07/andy-daltons-passer-rating-was-fifth-worst-since-1960-for-qbs-with-at-least-30-attempts/

First pick was TE's fault, Green was not himself either and dropped balls he normally catches

truth on hold Posted November 7, 2014 Posted November 7, 2014 (edited) True, and the wind was bad, but he was horrible. Ive always had mixed feelings on the guy. I think he has good leadership skills, he's tough and displays confidence, he can throw some perfect passes all over the field (aka Brady, Brees, etc), but OTOH then some clunkers in bunches and look confuses, while you never see the elite guys throw that many bad ones in bunches. Also seems to come up flat in post-season. Id rank him pretty much spot on in the middle -- between 16 and 17 -- as a starter. But last night I think his WRs share a decent amount of the blame too Edited November 7, 2014 by JTSP
