/dev/null Posted November 6, 2014 Posted November 6, 2014 Is Gotham really good? I haven't gone past the pilot for personal reasons but it's still recording on my DVR. Should I go back? Yes I love it man. The Penguin is just starting to ramp up the crazy. Agreed
BuffaloBillsForever Posted November 6, 2014 Posted November 6, 2014 Of the really popular acclaimed shows that I have box sets of I would rank them as follows: Breaking Bad (Blu-ray) Boardwalk Empire (Blu-ray) Sopranos (DVD) True Detective (Blu-ray) Sons of Anarchy (Blu-ray) Band of Brothers/The Pacific (Blu-ray) The Wire (DVD) Mad Men (Blu-ray)

Draper, Sterling and Bert Cooper would stomp all those vest wearing hippies out. Joan Holloway > all
/dev/null Posted November 6, 2014 Posted November 6, 2014 Sons of anarchy ranked higher than Mad Men ? Draper, Sterling and Bert Cooper would stomp all those vest wearing hippies out. Joan Holloway > all Yeah I just don't see Draper, Sterling, and Cooper posing much of a threat to Happy or Opie
Alaska Darin Posted November 6, 2014 Posted November 6, 2014 Along the lines of shows like The Wire, Sons of Anarchy, and Breaking Bad, I highly recommend The Shield. Excellent. Vic Mackey is just a tremendous character. Michael Chiklis really brought it to that role. Sons of anarchy ranked higher than Mad Men ? Draper, Sterling and Bert Cooper would stomp all those vest wearing hippies out. Joan Holloway > all Sons of Anarchy had a couple of very good seasons but it jumped the shark a loooooooooooooong time ago. It's the !@#$ing A-Team now.
Kelly the Dog Posted November 6, 2014 Posted November 6, 2014 (edited) True Detective. The Shield and The Wire are fabulous. Ray Donovan. Shameless. Mad Men. Homeland. Boardwalk Empire. House of Cards. Sons of Anarchy. You can't go wrong with Modern Family if you want a comedy. Edited November 6, 2014 by Kelly the Dog
Johnny Hammersticks Posted November 6, 2014 Posted November 6, 2014 Haven't seen it mentioned here yet. Wilfred is a really great show, IMO. Kind of a dark comedy. Unique and very entertaining.

Maury Ballstein Posted November 6, 2014 Posted November 6, 2014 Yeah I just don't see Draper, Sterling, and Cooper posing much of a threat to Happy or Opie Opie better run if he sees Cooper coming down that hall in those argyle socks. Sons of Anarchy had a couple of very good seasons but it jumped the shark a loooooooooooooong time ago. It's the !@#$ing A-Team now. agree, thats what i meant in regards to the mad men/SOA fight.

Sons of Anarchy had a couple of very good seasons but it jumped the shark a loooooooooooooong time ago. It's the !@#$ing A-Team now. Agreed on both. When good SOA was pretty solid for a basic action show but they've gone off the rails. Really, I'm just watching cause I've been on the ride this far, you don't toss it aside so close to the end. I think it'll be a good finish and sutter will wish he tightened it up to 1-2 fewer seasons and cut some of the gratuitous chase scenes/rocket launchers involved along the way.

Rob's House Posted November 6, 2014 Posted November 6, 2014 Sons of Anarchy had a couple of very good seasons but it jumped the shark a loooooooooooooong time ago. It's the !@#$ing A-Team now. I just finished season 7 and I have to agree. The last season I thought much of was the one where Opie shot that Fed B word in the back of the head. I've always had reservations about the show because it resorts to "gore porn" for a lot of its intrigue, but it has gone through a few solid story lines.
PaattMaann Posted November 6, 2014 Posted November 6, 2014 Justified is also a good one. ive been meaning to get back into that, because I stopped watching after like episode 3 or 4 in the first season after what seemed like the 100th time Oliphant said "it was justified" #show title overkill
Canadian Bills Fan Posted November 6, 2014 Posted November 6, 2014 I love Justified but I am a season behind (still waiting for season 5 to come out on dvd) Breaking Bad is amazing. I have really started binge watching House on Netflix. I am addicted. I know its not a drama but I always recommend Scrubs as I think it was one of the best sitcoms in TV history. Its funny but it also has a lot serious points. Not to mention it features one of the best TV characters of all time in Dr. Cox IMO CBF
KD in CA Posted November 6, 2014 Posted November 6, 2014 Unlike the Sopranos that went off a cliff and stayed down for 5 years, The Wire was always on top of its game through the end. Few shows have ever done that. Wait...what?? I thought the Sopranos was great in those middle years. My only issue was the first 1/2 of the final season (the Vito stuff went on much too long).

The rest was just so good that I didn't care
Buffalo Barbarian Posted November 6, 2014 Posted November 6, 2014 Hey everybody... I was wondering what shows you guys recommend. I'm looking to start a new series and I have it narrowed down to a few. As much as I love Modern Family and The Office, I'm looking to watch a more serious series. I have already seen Breaking Bad and loved it. I think i have it narrowed down to: 1. Homeland (but I heard the 1st season is amazing but then it really tails off) 2. True Detective (heard its really good but also really weird) 3. The Americans Any input you guys have would be cool, if you have seen any of them (don't give too much away, haha). Also open to any other suggestions if there is a show that you would consider a "must see." Thanks guys! those are all good. I would Vikings from history channel which starts in the spring and the Strain on FX which just ended both have great story lines and action without being overly gory Homeland is great every year, this started off slow but has really picked up with major plot twists One of these days I am gonna give Sons of Anarchy a go. Have you started Orange Is The New Black? Episodes is a great series Shameless is a fabulous series Can't get into SOA, it's just to filthy and I don't like rooting for scumbags
ricojes Posted November 6, 2014 Posted November 6, 2014 (edited) Hell on Wheels The Walking Dead Shameless House of Cards Game of Thrones Homeland The Bridge Edited November 6, 2014 by ricojes
PaattMaann Posted November 6, 2014 Posted November 6, 2014 And really, the final season of the wire was way out in left field if I remember correctly. The rest was just so good that I didn't care i liked all of the sopranos as well, but it did have "slow" moments in just about every season The Wire was the most steadily awesome (lack of more artistic terms) show ever produced Season Five was not way out in left field either...not sure why you would remember it that way...focused on the paper (each season focused on a new element of baltimore - docks, politics, school, paper), the showdown between marlos group and omar, and wraps up just about every thing out there (michael even becomes "the new omar" in the stick up game)...season 5 was boss
