CodeMonkey Posted October 29, 2014 Posted October 29, 2014 Currently shows the Bills about even with the phish, finishing with a 9-7 record and probably not making the playoffs.
KD in CA Posted October 29, 2014 Posted October 29, 2014 Tough year in the AFC. 3 doormats and only one dominant team makes for a very crowed middle-class fighting for playoff spots.
Canadian Bills Fan Posted October 29, 2014 Posted October 29, 2014 We all need to hope for losses to KC, SD, and Pittsburgh As many losses as possible CBF
TheBillsWillRiseAgain Posted October 29, 2014 Posted October 29, 2014 (edited) So let me get this straight: The Patriots currently have one more win than us with half the season still to go but their odds of making the playoffs are 3 times higher than ours? lmao Edited October 29, 2014 by TheBillsWillRiseAgain
Johnny Hammersticks Posted October 29, 2014 Posted October 29, 2014 26 out of 100? So, you're saying there's a chance?!
Rubes Posted October 29, 2014 Posted October 29, 2014 Currently shows the Bills about even with the phish, finishing with a 9-7 record and probably not making the playoffs. Interesting that the teams in each division are sorted by point differential rather than wins.
PastaJoe Posted October 29, 2014 Posted October 29, 2014 So let me get this straight: The Patriots currently have one more win than us with half the season still to go but their odds of making the playoffs are 3 times higher than ours? lmao There must be a weight factor based on the coaches and QBs.
bisonbrigade Posted October 29, 2014 Posted October 29, 2014 Nuts!! Bills buck odds and make it. What is the chances that they can miss the playoffs again? Williams, Williams, Williams, Williams, Williams and Williams will not be denied.
Billsguy Posted October 29, 2014 Posted October 29, 2014 Currently shows the Bills about even with the phish, finishing with a 9-7 record and probably not making the playoffs. Instead of stealing his material, I've provided the proper link below: http://fivethirtyeight.com/datalab/nfl-week-9-elo-ratings-and-playoff-odds/

I suspect they are sorted by Elo rating which is the number generated by the model. 26 out of 100? So, you're saying there's a chance?! Yup! And part 2 of that movie is coming out soon! buffaloboyinATL Posted October 29, 2014 Posted October 29, 2014 (edited) Currently shows the Bills about even with the phish, finishing with a 9-7 record and probably not making the playoffs. When you cross reference this list with the toxic differential, we are a shoo in. Edited October 29, 2014 by buffaloboyinATL
tennesseeboy Posted October 29, 2014 Posted October 29, 2014 Looking at the schedule 9-7 would be a wise guesstimate. I think we'll go 10-6 and whether we win the division will depend on the game against New England. If New England takes the division, 10 wins are a pretty safe bet for a playoff spot. We can hope.
Fan in Chicago Posted October 29, 2014 Posted October 29, 2014 When you cross reference this list with the toxic differential, we are a shoe in. As opposed to being booted out ?
buffaloboyinATL Posted October 29, 2014 Posted October 29, 2014 As opposed to being booted out ? damn, I fell for the belief that the etymology of the word was the door to door salesman blocking the door with his shoe. Should have cross referenced first.
Dorkington Posted October 29, 2014 Posted October 29, 2014 We have the same chance as the Jets to win the Super Bowl? Ouch.
dascottbills28 Posted October 29, 2014 Posted October 29, 2014 Its pointless halfway through the season to try and predict the playoff field. Anything can and will happen between now and then. A team that looks dead in the water right now could get on a hot streak and sneak into the playoffs while a team that is playing well with a good record could tank and finish the season out of the playoffs.
eball Posted October 29, 2014 Posted October 29, 2014 Yup! And part 2 of that movie is coming out soon! I believe you mean part to.
YoloinOhio Posted October 29, 2014 Posted October 29, 2014 We have the same chance as the Jets to win the Super Bowl? Ouch. yes, don't you remember? The Jets are a better team than their record. The Blls are a worse team than their record. Obviously....

The Jets are a better team than their record. The Blls are a worse team than their record. Obviously.... You seem to be off base here Yolo. In this case I think it means according to the model, neither team has much of a chance. If you look closer, it shows that the Bills have a significantly better chance of making the playoffs than the Jests do. So it is not showing that it thinks the Jests are the better team.
