BillsFan-4-Ever Posted October 28, 2014 Posted October 28, 2014 got a phone call in my hotel room at 4AM saying that their computer system failed they wanted to know my length of stay home address and credit card number. I said no way I'll come down to the front desk and he said if I did I would have to wait an hour, offered me 30% room discount . After his 3rd request for the # I said I'm not going to give you my !@#$ing credit card at 4 AM on the phone. I went down to the desk and they said they had no problem and that I was the second person to make the same complaint. the hotel is trying to figure out how they were able to bypass the front desk
Acantha Posted October 28, 2014 Posted October 28, 2014 Not a bad scam. There's always people who fall for this type of stuff anyway, and with this you might catch a couple more just because they're so out of it.
BillsFan-4-Ever Posted October 28, 2014 Author Posted October 28, 2014 that was my thought as well middle of the night drowsy not thinking straight I was pissed for being woken up and didn't want to get out of bed having I traveled all that day with 4 hours of sleep Sun night then Monday
\GoBillsInDallas/ Posted October 28, 2014 Posted October 28, 2014 got a phone call in my hotel room at 4AM Was this before or after the male prostitute left?
The Poojer Posted October 28, 2014 Posted October 28, 2014 for the record, not all guys on craigslist are prostitutes... Was this before or after the male prostitute left?
Gugny Posted October 28, 2014 Posted October 28, 2014 Whilst lodging at the econolodge for the home opener, I noticed a note by the phone warning guests about that scam. I'd ne'er heard of it, previously.
Deranged Rhino Posted October 28, 2014 Posted October 28, 2014 for the record, not all guys on craigslist are prostitutes... Got burned once, didn't you? It's okay, Pooj, we're all friends here. You can admit it.
Clippers of Nfl Posted October 28, 2014 Posted October 28, 2014 Never heard of this one. I've heard of this one that is currently happening to me. Well it's not a scam. But it's bugging the hell out of me. I stayed in a resort in vegas 2 months ago. Everyday someone from their resort calls me. One time I picked up and they were offering a timeshare product. I said, "thanks but no thanks" they still call every freaking day. really. every freaking day. This bugs me since i always pick up my phone. Not worried about a collector or anything like that like some. This is the only call I get every day that I "block" by hiting the mute on my phone. Ps. Last week I answered by accident. When I realized who it was, I replied, "Today I'm not in the mood". The lady said, "ok, sir have a niced day" So they are not aholes, so it makes me feel bad to be an ahole to them. what should i do? last piece. At the resort they offered me $75 card to listen to the bs promotion. i rejected. it then turned to 175 or 150 gift card to listen to the timeshare presentation. i rejected that too. so why bug me? i didnt take your free money. leave me alone.
BillsFan-4-Ever Posted October 29, 2014 Author Posted October 29, 2014 Was this before or after the male prostitute left? it was too dark so I couldn't tell if it was male or not lol
Chef Jim Posted October 29, 2014 Posted October 29, 2014 I've never heard of it but I agree it's a good one. I'm not sure I'd fall for it but at 4am who knows.
Just Jack Posted October 29, 2014 Posted October 29, 2014 Heard of it, you basically handled it the right way, just telling them you'll come down to the desk to straighten it out.

mrags Posted October 29, 2014 Posted October 29, 2014 I got a phone call today from An Olean number. Asking for donations for the Buffalo Police Department. I said sure, send me something in the mail and I'll gladly send some money in. They quickly said... Ok, Thank you, have a nice day. And hung up.
ExiledInIllinois Posted October 29, 2014 Posted October 29, 2014 Or you can just say: "I will hang-up and then call the front desk back." Anyway, who the hell uses a hotel phone anymore? Is it even necessary... I suppose for calling the front desk. ;-)

ExiledInIllinois Posted October 29, 2014 Posted October 29, 2014 wake up calls? Yeah I suppose. Most all have alarm clocks. Years ago when I traveled I always put in for a wake up call... Now it is just seems kinda creepy even if it is automated. Anyway, most hotel alarm clocks will knock you outta bed.
