I marvel at the Monday morning, even Sunday night, commentary. Kyle Orton is the answer....EJ still sucks....blah blah blah. I have a simple reality check for anyone that wants to cash one. The Bills defense is what's winning them games. The offense has pretty much been a bystander to impressive defensive performances. Let's check the last 4 weeks. 17, 17, 22, and 17 points scored by the offense. Not exactly lighting the world on fire. Two wins scoring 17 on both occasions and two losses scoring 17 and 22.

It's obvious the defense is the main reason the Bills are winning games. And that was the argument for starting Orton over EJ. With this Defense, the Bills would win more games with a little better QB play. Most felt the Orton was a little better than EJ, so no, Kyle is not the answer, just a better option going forward this season.

The offense just needs to play smarter, eliminate the really dumb mistakes and at some point start actually running the ball effectively

The offense needs to stop turning the ball over. So the team is 2-2 in the last 4 games. 10 Turnovers during that timeframe or 2.5 per game. That just can't continue. They're lucky to be 2-2. Even yesterday, the Vikings had a 4-2 turnover advantage. NFL teams only win games going -2 about 5% of the time. The offense with EJ at the helm did not turn the ball over as much. I do give Orton credit for doing one thing that EJ has not yet shown he can do. He throws the ball where the receiver is going instead of waiting for him to get there. There is no way EJ makes the throw to win the game yesterday.

Give some credit to Orton. It's really remarkable how when he's not getting sacked or fumbling, he has thrown some incredibly accurate long-distance passes. I'd bet that his Comp% on long throws is above average.

Also, let's not forget Ed Hochuli, who's officiating crew seemed very honest and reasonable. I recall that Hockuli has always been a solid ref. He has a notable blunder mentioned on his Wikipedia, but overall, he doesn't seem as corrupted or senile as the rest of the refs are.

I was just thinking about the lack of defensive holding calls. Looked like they were lenient on offensive holding as well. I would rather being lenient, than have a penalty every other play.
