atlbillsfan1975 Posted October 20, 2014 Posted October 20, 2014 (edited) The Bills face the NYETS and then have a BYE week. Dixon, Brown and Summers should be able to carry the load for one week lets see how FJ is doing after a week before jumping the gun This is what I think the Bills will do. Just makes more sense with the bye to let the guys you have take their turn against the Jets . Edited October 20, 2014 by atlbillsfan1975
JPS Posted October 20, 2014 Posted October 20, 2014 They WILL sign someone for this week. They just saw 2 RBs go down and know it can happen
1B4IDie Posted October 20, 2014 Posted October 20, 2014 (edited) I could see signing a RB off of someone else's ps. However there have been so many RB injuries around the league, pickings could be slim. Fred May only miss 1 game so would not make sense to trade a pick. We already did that to get brown. I could see signing Ronnie Wingo since he was in camp with them if he's still out there. You can't sign a player to your practice squad from another team's practice squad they have to be on the 53 possibly even active. I'm not sure about the active part. So Freddy is staying on the 53, he will just be inactive. Bryce Brown is taking his spot on the Active. So there is really just 1 spot open on the 53. Maybe they sign Lance Seastruck to the 53 or bring back Wingo. Either way that person may not be active with Boobie Brown and Tank. Definitely don't see any trades happening. They made the trade in the off season to get Brown. The Bills are lucky in that they may be able to weather this storm. No offense to the injured CJ, Brown and Boobie may be an upgrade to the way he was playing and being used. Boobie can take a dive up the middle and get 3 yards and be happy. Where CJ was looking for the big play. Edited October 20, 2014 by Why So Serious?
ctk232 Posted October 20, 2014 Posted October 20, 2014 It's always great to keep options open...but honestly people, just b/c our front office and coaching staff are inept at seeing depth within the roster and playing the right personnel, we imagine the only solution to lie outside the walls of the facility. Brown and Dixon are still a formidable duo. Dixon is a solid, power, no-nonsense runner. He is great for x and short situations as well as in the red zone. He's always good for a few yards. Brown is a more dynamic runner. He can find holes, bounce outside, and even venture between the tackles for a few yards gain. IMO - should Hackett actually learn what game he's coordinating in terms of run offense and using personnel, and Marrone to open his eyes to what he has right in front of him - Brown will far exceed Spiller's performance these last two years. Our two starters should have always been FJax and Brown, and now with Freddy getting older, I'm happy to see we still have a young, strong duo in Dixon and Brown. Cool your jets people and save it for when we actually cool the jets this weekend.
cage Posted October 20, 2014 Posted October 20, 2014 This is what I think the Bills will do. Just makes more sense with the bye to let the guys you have take their turn. With Spiller going to IR, they'll sign another body to replace him, why not? 2 RBs going down within a few plays of each other says you have to ready. If Fred is ready after the bye, perhaps they'll make some other move, but there' will be an open spot from Spiller... it has to be filled by a RB under the circumstances

He does not need to be on the active gameday 46. Edited October 20, 2014 by YoloinOhio
hondo in seattle Posted October 20, 2014 Posted October 20, 2014 On a related issue, who gets more carries this week: Bryce or Boobie? Boobie's supposedly been dressing - and Brown has not - because Dixon plays ST. With both dressed, which one does Hackett, Marrone actually like more in the backfield? Brown is averaging 4.6 ypc for his career. Dixon, a short yardage specialist, is averaging a mere 2.5 though he's picking up 3.9 as a Bill.

He can carry it 20-25 times.
Damian Posted October 20, 2014 Posted October 20, 2014 Will they IR Spiller? A broken collarbone should be healed in time for the last game or two (and hopefully playoffs).
TaskerTough Posted October 20, 2014 Posted October 20, 2014 I just wanna see what Bryce Brown can do on this team. Desperately want to see Bryce step up.
thewildrabbit Posted October 20, 2014 Posted October 20, 2014 The Bills have Bryce Brown to help Boobie along with the FB Summers. That should hold them until Fred gets healthy. Time to see if that 4th rounder for Brown was worth it.
BillsFanThru-N-Thru Posted October 20, 2014 Posted October 20, 2014 Out of the Practice Squad Players I'd take either Lache Seastrunk, LaMichael James, or Daryl Richardson. Of the available free agents there's Felix Jones, Mikel Leshoure, Cris Rainey, BenJarvus Green-Ellis, Michael Bush, and Brian Leonard. As people stated above they aren't here to start just to be insurance for our insurance that now has to play
Bills Fan in MD Posted October 20, 2014 Posted October 20, 2014 DeMarco Murray. If Dallas won't just give him to us, maybe they'll take Duke Williams or Lee Smith?
YoloinOhio Posted October 20, 2014 Posted October 20, 2014 DeMarco Murray. If Dallas won't just give him to us, maybe they'll take Duke Williams or Lee Smith? Jerry Jones will sign him to a 700 mill contract and then run him into the ground.
Deranged Rhino Posted October 20, 2014 Posted October 20, 2014 Will they IR Spiller? A broken collarbone should be healed in time for the last game or two (and hopefully playoffs). From the sounds of what Rubes was saying last night, it appears to be a more significant break than what happened to Discount Double Check Rodgers, and likely will require more time to heal than there is left in the season.
maryland-bills-fan Posted October 20, 2014 Author Posted October 20, 2014 How do you propose getting him? He's their No.1 back We send down a big plate of hot chicken wings. He demands wings before and after every practice, they get sick of his bitching and release him and we pick him up for the league minimum. (plus all the wings he can eat). Actually, I wan't aware at the time that they had so many RB's go down.

Plus a QB doesn't take contact on every play, a RB will take contact on every play either blocking, running or receiving.
ExiledInIllinois Posted October 20, 2014 Posted October 20, 2014 Willis McGahee He will never go for it. There is nothing to do in BFLO. Well, if you don't count having a stable of Baby Mamas. God forbid we bore him to death! ;-P
DisplacedBillsFan Posted October 20, 2014 Posted October 20, 2014 Practice squad could be the way to go. Now, I don't know the PS backs around the country, but I know there are at least some decent backs available. Because I live in Colorado I know Kapri Bibbs is on Denver's practice squad. He ran for 31 TDs, over 1700 yards and a 6.2 average per carry last year at Colorado State. Anyone know of backs in your region of the country that may be available?

Brown takes Spiller spot and Dixon takes Freddies for the Jets game. The Bills may want to add another player to the gameday roster against the Jets then a RB. Not sure what our practice squad looks like right now, but an extra big dlineman might be good with how much the Jets like to run Edited October 20, 2014 by atlbillsfan1975
