Miyagi-Do Karate Posted October 20, 2014 Posted October 20, 2014 almost had a seizure on this one Same here. It was mind-boggling. He really thought that re-kicking would yield a worse outcome than starting on your own 12-yard line?
RyanC883 Posted October 20, 2014 Posted October 20, 2014 Marrone and Hackett are hopefully gone after this year. At the very least, Hackett HAS to go.

Im not sure about the illegal touch rule mentioned above, but the Vikes would have been punting from their 33. If it were closer to the 50, you take it at the 12 because most punters can get it inside that. But not from the 33.

The odds are just decidedly in your favor on a re-kick from that spot on the field. On a re-kick, he hits a 50- yarder, and you still field it at the 17.

Fadingpain Posted October 20, 2014 Posted October 20, 2014 Marrone is a liability. He's not exactly a great bench boss, is he? I mean a head coach has 2 important jobs. He has to prepare and plan for a game, but then he has to manage the game while it unfolds with quick decisions. Marrone appears to be horrible at the latter task. And it is not clear that he is any better at the former.

Worried we end up at the 6 instead of 12? it seemed no risk and all reward to make them kick
klos63 Posted October 20, 2014 Posted October 20, 2014 These end of half gaffes are way too common with this coaching staff. It's not a coincidence, it's mis-managing the game. Marv Levy was out-coached in 4 Super Bowls, and while I liked him alright as a coach, I wouldn't consider his quotes to be "gospel". How did YOU feel about it, Marv isn't here... Iighten up will ya, I was referencing a hall of fame coach for context - can you understand that. It's quite a leap to say by quoting him that it is 'gospel'. I would rather listen to him than a bunch of hacks on a blog that think they know more than the coaches.
