Bryce Brown surprised he isn't playing

Can we bring Thurman in as a special assistant? There is an art to the whole "RB protecting the QB" thing, and he was a master. CJ can barely slow someone down, IF he sees it coming. We need more than a small speed bump.

i have listened to both TT and Mark Kelso describe how CJ should be used. Free advice, Hackett!! These guys know what they're talking about!

i assume that as it was next year's 4th, it's because he doesn't see an RB he thinks he can get in the 4th or later next year as talented as he thinks Brown is, or that fits this system as well as he does. With as little tread on his tires, at age 23. Whether or not we all agree is different, depending on one's knowledge of the 2015 eligible RBs.

The Bryce Brown trade was simple, CJ is a FA and Fred is getting old, a GM has to have more broad vision of the team going forward. People has cried for years about this team lacking roster depth, well, Brown is exactly that only that we have been lucky with injuries so far (knocking on wood).

Would it be interesting to see him getting playing time? of course, CJ is having a bad year and Fred is a little banged up, maybe we could bench the penalty specialist, Lee Smith and give him the rock a couple of times against the Vikings.

Cleveland owns Buffalo's 1st and 4th in 2015. Buffalo owes another 4th to Philadelphia for Brown, presumably the one received for Johnson.

I suppose if Johnson's performance makes it a 3rd, the Bills will have to get creative because they don't have a second 4th. Regardless, the point remains: Buffalo, specifically Brandon and Whaley, mortgaged their future so that they might keep their jobs.

not true. The Bills do not owe Phil the pick they get from SF unless Brown meets certain production levels this year. Otherwise, it is a 2016 pick. The Bills have all but 1 pick next year.

Well, it looks unlikely that Brown will meet the playing conditions to warrant a 2016 3rd round pick. Ergo, you're looking at a 2015 4th rounder.

And Buffalo already dealt their 2015 4th rounder to Cleveland in the Watkins trade.

It still doesn't deflect from the fact Buffalo is betting their future for this season.

The Bills will send a 2015 fourth-round selection to Philadelphia if:

- Stevie Johnson does not meet production-based conditions in San Francisco in 2014.

- Bryce Brown does not meet production-based conditions in Buffalo in 2014.

The Bills will send a 2016 fourth-round selection to Philadelphia if:

- Stevie Johnson does meet production-based conditions in San Francisco in 2014.

- Bryce Brown does not meet production-based conditions in Buffalo in either 2014 or 2015.

The Bills will send a 2016 third-round selection to Philadelphia if:

- Stevie Johnson does meet production-based conditions in San Francisco in 2014.

- Bryce Brown does meet production-based conditions in Buffalo in either 2014 or 2015.

The pick the Bills are sending to Philadelphia cannot escalate to a third-round pick in 2015. The pick the 49ers are sending the Bills in 2015 can escalate to a third-round selection if Stevie Johnson meets production-based conditions in 2014.

The most likely scenario based on how the season is playing out so far is that Stevie meets his production standards and Brown does not.

If you think they "mortgaged the future" because they can't draft someone in the 1st rd with out trading up, that's fine, but they likely will have 6 draft picks and free agency with a moneybags owner so I think the future is ok.

Bryce Brown has a tremendous amount of talent. he was drafted late, with no real investment by the eagles and shined. He's still VERY young, and will be the bell cow next year while spiller is tearing up defenses on a team that has a clue.

Bryce Brown isn't dressing because Dixon is a special teams guy. If Spiller or Fred gut hurt, Bryce dresses and immediately gets a ton of touches.

When did he shine?

Except no first round pick and no QB. Sorry, I just thought that had to be added to your thought.
