Dirtbag Posted October 16, 2014 Posted October 16, 2014 "Soon..." He's waiting for the new technology to "arrive". that made me lol out loud.
KollegeStudnet Posted October 16, 2014 Posted October 16, 2014 i love that the khaki-panted analytics guy had a photoshoot in the end zone as if he were a first round draft pick. Nice haircut. Does he carry around a 'Mary Sampsonite' briefcase and get robbed by sweet old ladies on a motorized carts?
5 Wide Posted October 16, 2014 Posted October 16, 2014 Analytics Department: Doug, our statistics show that the current offensive scheme has meant the regression in all of your offensive skill position players Marrone: NEERRRDDDDSSS!!!
todd Posted October 16, 2014 Posted October 16, 2014 Other things being equal, you're correct but analytics have been around the NFL for years. There's a ton of data out there and more comes in with the "film" every week. There's a ton of data, but in what format? Film? that's not data digestible by an analytics system. That's EXACTLY what I mean by taking years to have it in a format you can actually aggregate and measure it. Film is dark data. It is data that exists, but you really can't do a damn thing with it until it is put in a cube or tabular data store so you can analyze it.
