TheFunPolice Posted October 15, 2014 Posted October 15, 2014 And if you wear a funny t-shirt to the breakfast table lunch will be in San Francisco. lol... true!
4merper4mer Posted October 15, 2014 Posted October 15, 2014 He may not think he did anything wrong. I don't know what happened but let's speculate. Take a look at the lack of targets MW has had while he has been here. He is used to a much bigger role, but he isn't a starter here. Why isn't he a starter? Because he isn't one of the best 2 WRs on the team. He could have remained the #2 in TB, but he screwed up and got shipped out for a 6th rd pick. Now he's a #3-4 WR who doesn't contribute on ST, and he's pissed that he's not getting the ball. Understandable, but he can hold himself accountable for where his career is now. But he probably feels that someone else is accountable, right? Marrone, Hackett, EJ, Orton, whoever. And maybe he has had a crappy, me-first attitude about the lack of targets and Marrone doesn't want it around the team, especially on gameday. So "he's going to see how this week goes" in regards to whether he plays this week, but you know how its gone so far? Marrone and Whaley have had to answer media questions and calls about him wanting a trade. Those trade calls come all the time for players but they aren't public unless someone (agent) wants them public. So now its annoying and a distraction. So scout team it is. But its only Wednesday. Let's see if he gets it together by Friday and whether he gets some reps then. But I'm just speculating. Speculating is one thing... Marrone ditched Williams once before, ditched Stevie, traded for Williams to replace him and ditched him again. Meanwhile he will let Hackett keep his job and even loan him the beemer for prom.
YoloinOhio Posted October 15, 2014 Posted October 15, 2014 Marrone is a bad liar. Which is hilarious because he declared "I'm not gonna lie" from the podium today. MW is also a poor liar. If his agent asked for a trade without his permission, he should be fired. Makes you wonder... could MW have voiced his frustration to his agent and asked him to work a trade, and then when it went public and Whaley called them out on it, he decided he better cover his a*s? Marrone explained it as it was a roster decision. Yeah, they needed to dress Gragg and Ladler this week. He didn't say the real reason why he was benching MW? Neither did Belichik when he deactivated Dobson for 2 games for what the media claimed was "mouthing off to McDaniels." They aren't required to air a team's dirty laundry and they shouldn't.

It's really simple: he's not a starting receiver here and can't contribute on special teams. Makes perfect sense from a coaching perspective. Also makes perfect sense from an historically selfish player that pouts when he doesn't get his way and feels like he's been "dissed." I won't be surprised if his decision to go public gets him released. As you said, I doubt Marrone appreciates any of this kind of distraction and doesn't want it around his team. GO BILLS!!!

Marrone is this team's dirty laundry. Who is next after Williams? Hilliard....Stevie....Williams....I'll guess Woods, but he could go to Spiller.....then probably Spikes......then it is anyone's guess.

Then who had the brilliant idea to effectively trade a very good Buffalo Bills receiver for a well-known Tampa malcontent?
4merper4mer Posted October 15, 2014 Posted October 15, 2014 Then who had the brilliant idea to effectively trade a very good Buffalo Bills receiver for a well-known Tampa malcontent? Obviously the head coach must be held blameless.
FireChan Posted October 15, 2014 Posted October 15, 2014 Then who had the brilliant idea to effectively trade a very good Buffalo Bills receiver for a well-known Tampa malcontent? I heard EJ didn't get along with SJ13. There was friction there, and EJ approached Doug to have him shipped out. It was over when SJ put his rap song as EJ's alarm for training camp.
K-9 Posted October 15, 2014 Posted October 15, 2014 Then who had the brilliant idea to effectively trade a very good Buffalo Bills receiver for a well-known Tampa malcontent? Does it matter? If I say Marrone is a dumb schit who should have known better, and I DO, how does that impact what's happening now? It's simple, Marrone's the coach, MW's the player and it's just NOT a level playing field. MW needs to STFU and get to work convincing everyone Marrone is stupid for benching him. But he's gotta convince Marrone first. I wish him luck with that. GO BILLS!!!

theesir Posted October 15, 2014 Posted October 15, 2014 if it was 8 or 9 plays well that's different. Keep in mind I was bitching about MW sitting in place of our SPECIALIST kickoff guy. If it was 8 or 9 plays then that would mean we had scored 7 or 8 times and we wouldn't be talking about the pathetic use of our playmakers on offense.

GO BILLS!!! has pouting been heavy in his resume? i know he had legal issues, and general discipline, but i didnt know of pouting. additionally, id be curious how many 3rd WRs around the league contribute extensively to special teams -- outside of kick return duty, i dont know if it would be terribly overwhelming in number. but thats based on nothing at all - if anyone knows more im genuinely interested as itll help add real perspective. As you said, I doubt Marrone appreciates any of this kind of distraction and doesn't want it around his team. GO BILLS!!! But who do you replace him with? Easley is a special teams player who rarely has seen the field with the offense and he's injured. Goodwin, like Roscoe Parrish before him, is a special use player that can't be counted on to play a lot. That leaves you with the undrafted Chris Hogan, a possession receiver. Do you bring someone like Da'Rick back, or promote Namaan Roosevelt?
26CornerBlitz Posted October 15, 2014 Posted October 15, 2014 Doug Marrone on Mike Williams (4:48) Head Coach Doug Marrone talks about Wide Receiver Mike Williams and the identity of the offense.
boyst Posted October 15, 2014 Posted October 15, 2014 I like Mike Williams and glad he is here. I think he is better then David Nelson and TJ Graham but it is funny right now to think how those two players could/would be starting over Mike Williams right now. Both of those guys most of us were quick to cast off.

It should matter to Marrone if his thin skinned, vindictive moves don't lead to an improving WL record.

It would be more genuine if he said I'll be the best scout team player I can be but I'm gonna complain to my agent and the press while I'm at it. Sorry, a mature professional just doesn't do it that way. Now before all this digresses into another of our discussions where you take the player's side and I take that of the organization, I'll just agree to disagree right now because I WILL take the organization's side IN SPITE of the fact I think Marrone is out of his depth as a coach. GO BILLS!!! It matters in that MW would have been a better addition to the roster on Sunday than either Smith or Gragg. It should matter to Marrone if his thin skinned, vindictive moves don't lead to an improving WL record. Thin skinned, vindictive moves? Really? We can argue they were stupid perhaps, but why are you so convinced Marrone is making this personal? It's plain to see how MW took it personally but it looks like just another coach's decision to me, stupid or not. GO BILLS!!!

These are the exact pressure points that separate the pros from pretenders. Vindictive is for this week's episode. MW likely earned the doghouse last week. He was taught a lesson. What's the rationale for holding him out of practice this week? Edited October 15, 2014 by GG

I'm not sure he's making the right decisions under intense pressure. Indeed, I think he's out of his depth as I said to NoSain above. But in regards to the MW situation, I don't think it's any more complicated that a coach, for WHATEVER reason, made a personnel decision and the player went public with his dissatisfaction over it. I don't think players should do that. Ever. Regardless of how stupid the coach may be. GO BILLS!!!

GO BILLS!!! yea - i think there is a little fault for both sides probably, realistically. we dont know the story, but im guessing shared blame as itd be odd if it was NOTHING. I promise im not inherently pro-player, anti-team..... but something about the trend the last year or so i think makes me uneasy about simply giving marrone the benefit of the doubt on his decisions. I'm not sure he's making the right decisions under intense pressure. Indeed, I think he's out of his depth as I said to NoSain above. GO BILLS!!! for all we know the agent contacted the team about the deactivation (as he probably should) and in the talks made a comment that if you are leaving my player inactive can i atleast look for somewhere for him to play -- from there it could be someone at the agency, someone in the organization (hasnt proven to be totally airtight as controversy in the front office seems to be leaking here or there internally), or it could be another team that caught wind of it and stirred the pot. this isnt a player that came out and said play me or trade me - its a guy thats saying the right things even if there is some grappling going on behind the scenes.
