LabattBlue Posted October 6, 2014 Posted October 6, 2014 (edited) The guy has a funny nickname, rips off one big run, and I read repeatedly on here that the Bills need to get him the ball more. Anyone ever look at his track record? He is a journeyman ST'er who can be the infrequently used short yardage back/blocker. Nothing more, nothing less. If anything, I'd like to see Bryce Brown get a chance to get some carries. Edited October 6, 2014 by LabattBlue
I'm Spartacus Posted October 6, 2014 Posted October 6, 2014 I was hoping to see Bryce Brown after Freddie got his hammy hurt. Why don't they put him in? I think he might even do better than CJ up the middle (he's stronger).

Widen the field and create more space. Edit: Roaster = Roster Edited October 6, 2014 by BringBackFergy
Sojourner Posted October 6, 2014 Posted October 6, 2014 (edited) It would be nice to see Brown make the gameday sheet in a crowded backfield as he certainly is a decent and versatile half back but the fact remains, and it is more prevalent with Easley being out injured, Dixon is a ST must! Edit: With Easley AND Ron Brooks injured. Edited October 6, 2014 by Smooth
I'm Spartacus Posted October 6, 2014 Posted October 6, 2014 Didn't realize Bryce Brown has been inactive for game-days. Saving him up for next year when CJ is gone....
Captain Caveman Posted October 6, 2014 Posted October 6, 2014 Well, then he should learn to cover kicks and punts, cause that's what we need out of our third RB.

Boobie is a fan favorite, not because of his nickname, but because of his attitude towards team and wanting to win. Breaking it down, Boobie is third on the depth chart and is a punishing back. He's not fast, but he is a hard to tackle guy.
bowery4 Posted October 6, 2014 Posted October 6, 2014 #1 Brown is an "in case we lose Spiller" after his contract player, he is not playing because we need a kick off specialist, which actually has been working out well to my surprise. Boobie has looked good on STs and did have one good run, I would rather have FJ take the load most the time though. I wish that they would figure out how to use Spiller better, I don't think he sucks, I think he is not what they use normally in their offense. I hope but doubt that changes. IMO they have a playmaker who they don't give the opportunities to make plays because they don't think they can or the team (especially the Oline) as built just doesn't fit his skill set. I would like it if they could make plays up that are spreading the field horizontally more and get him out of the middle of the field,(as opposed to the bunching up we do, now so often) you know line up to play to his strengths. We don't need him to get 15 touches a game, Fred yes, as long as he can still do it the way he has. I would think with a better and more experienced QB we should have more plays that work in the run game (is the playbook bigger cause if not it should be). I read somewhere that Hackett said this past week Orton wouldn't have much different plays than EJ did, I would expect that to change. We need better balance between run and pass, that usually helps win games. It still bothers the hell out of me that him and Fred are not on the field together more too. With the talent we have at WR right now and lack there of at TE, we should get our playmakers on the field together as much as possible.
Maddog69 Posted October 6, 2014 Posted October 6, 2014 given Spiller's lack of success running the ball this year, especially up the middle and Dixon's 47 yarder on limited touches, it does seem to make sense to give him a few more tries. Lot's of people seem to make excuses for Spiller but others are getting the job done behind the same line and running the same plays. Freddy consistently outperforms Spiller and it would be interesting to see what a bigger back like Dixon can do with more touches. (P.S. - I would also love to see what Bryce Brown can do. His speed is impressive). Coach Marrone talks about playing the players that give the most "production from the position". If that's the case, lets see Dixon get a shot when Spiller is only giving 2yrs a run.
Captain Caveman Posted October 6, 2014 Posted October 6, 2014 I'm ok with Brown getting a shot over Spiller, if only due to Spiller's dreadful pass protection efforts. But I seriously doubt it is going to happen, unless he completely craps the bed again this week.

He was regularly used as a short-yardage back, and did spot duty as a goal-line guy as well. I'd actually like to see--if we're going to run the ball as much as we seem to want to--all 4 of the backs get carries. For instance, this week against NE (who's run D has been gashed often this year), I'd dress all 4 backs and just run it down their throat all game long to keep Tommy Boy off the field.
John from Riverside Posted October 6, 2014 Posted October 6, 2014 This is the thing..... - Boobie has been suprisingly good in training camp for a guy that we thought was gonna be a FB/ST/short yardage guy.......a north south runner that fits this offense well with suprising quickness. - Spiller has been absolutely underwhelming...... - I would like to see Bryce Brown as well....but its a numbers game for the roster.....so if Boobie is going to actually be ACTIVE....then why not use him if he is effective?
RogerNapalm Posted October 6, 2014 Posted October 6, 2014 If only we had 2 Boobies Bahahaha!! Nicely done.

I agree, There is nothing wrong with using a power runner instead of a dancer prancer.
LeGOATski Posted October 8, 2014 Posted October 8, 2014 I think Dixon works well in this system. He's great if we ever have a nice lead and want to pound the rock. I wanted to see him used early in the Detroit game to soften up that line.
CountryCletus Posted October 8, 2014 Posted October 8, 2014 If only we had 2 Boobies Don't you think we can squeeze Boobie into the mix?
BillsFan-4-Ever Posted October 8, 2014 Posted October 8, 2014 oh cone on now, you know its because they like to type the name Boobie
Rob's House Posted October 8, 2014 Posted October 8, 2014 I'd like to see him cut from the team so I can stop hearing his dumbass nick name.
