rcatty Posted October 6, 2014 Posted October 6, 2014 When he gets a chance he rarely disappoints.....flash to Hackett: use him !
Mark80 Posted October 6, 2014 Posted October 6, 2014 Guy has to stay on the field to be utilized. Injury issues have really hurt him, but if he can stay healthy I'm sure he will be used more and more. At least I hope.
filthymcnasty08 Posted October 6, 2014 Posted October 6, 2014 If we had the protection, would be great to see us go 5-wide with Goodwin/Spiller/Sammy/Williams/Woods...lot's of mismatches to be had there.

Injury issues have really hurt him, but if he can stay healthy I'm sure he will be used more and more. At least I hope. Pun violation... I agree with your point. He's a weapon for this offense if he stays on the field. Hopefully he's not one of those guys who "just doesn't have a body for football". For the passing game to really work, the Bills need all-hands-on-deck. Speed guys like Goodwin really open up the running game for FredEx and Spiller too.

Maybe a QB that doesnt throw balls in places where Goodwin gets blown up will keep him on the field longer.
Mark80 Posted October 6, 2014 Posted October 6, 2014 Maybe a QB that doesnt throw balls in places where Goodwin gets blown up will keep him on the field longer. Can't "hurt" right? Now that one is a pun violation.
Boolay Posted October 6, 2014 Posted October 6, 2014 The best Bills offense of All Time had James Lofton spreading the field deep which opened up underneath for Andre and Metzelars and also opened up the running game. Goodwin may not have the skill of Lofton but he certainly has the speed to stretch things out. I think the Bills should sent him deep and try and overthrow him a couple times a game. With his speed I dont think they can overthrow him.
mountainwampus Posted October 6, 2014 Posted October 6, 2014 I honestly don't think he made that catch. He seemed to never have control of the ball then dropped it, but nobody seemed to notice. The Bills rushed to snap the next play, prompting a Lions timeout. Caldwell should've challenged instead.
Mark80 Posted October 6, 2014 Posted October 6, 2014 I disagree with that. He had control for about 4 steps before he dropped it. However, I do believe that is why the Bills didn't challenge the spot of the ball as they didn't want to take any chance of being screwed on the replay and have them somehow say it was incomplete when it really should have been spotted on the 2 rather than the 4.
The Dog Posted October 6, 2014 Posted October 6, 2014 Said it before, with the right QB he will be one of the stars of this team.
jumbalaya Posted October 6, 2014 Posted October 6, 2014 So far he has been another Roscoe / TJ. If Orton is the answer we may have better results. My only problem with Orton is the porn star mustache.
PromoTheRobot Posted October 6, 2014 Posted October 6, 2014 I wouldn't call him a hidden gem. We know we have him. EJ just couldn't hit him. More a wasted gem.
TPS Posted October 6, 2014 Posted October 6, 2014 We saw his potential last year on several TD bombs, but he couldn't stay healthy. KO said in his interview that he told Goodwin to keep running those flies and he would hit him when it was available. It's possible that Hackett is doing the right thing and having Goodwin stay out of traffic, utilizing him as the deep-coy. That should keep him healthy too...

JC2002 Posted October 6, 2014 Posted October 6, 2014 “All week, I had been talking to Marquise,” Orton said. “He’s a great speed guy. I said, ‘Keep on running out there for me and I’ll find a time when the safety squeezes in and I can get one out there.’ I threw a pretty good ball and he made a great catch.”
TakeYouToTasker Posted October 6, 2014 Posted October 6, 2014 So far he has been another Roscoe / TJ. If Orton is the answer we may have better results. My only problem with Orton is the porn star mustache. When he is on the field, it opens up the underneath and the seam (depending on the coverage shell) for our other receivers, as defenses have to account for his home run threat ability. He's a factor when he's on the field, even when he's not having the ball thrown his way.
Rob's House Posted October 6, 2014 Posted October 6, 2014 The porn star mustache is everything. -1 No doubt. It's a rare man that can rock a pornstache like Orton.
Dorkington Posted October 6, 2014 Posted October 6, 2014 The thing I don't get is.. Goodwin has more skill than just running deep. When Woods and SJ were out last year, they had him running actual routes, and he did phenomenal. I'd love to see us get him some crossing routes, so he can turn on the afterburners and get crazy YAC.
