Fixxxer Posted October 5, 2014 Posted October 5, 2014 I wouldn't overpay, that's for sure. He's great kid but he's not a good running back.
The Big Cat Posted October 5, 2014 Posted October 5, 2014 The "get him in space" defense again, huh? Â Nearly impossible to imagine a reality where Hackett hasn't considered this. Â But never mind that, fans. Let's just keep pretending it's that simple.
Bills Fan888 Posted October 5, 2014 Posted October 5, 2014 I want the Bills to trade CJ just so he can excel on another team. It just seems like such a waste watching him run into the line for one yard over and over again.
jumbalaya Posted October 5, 2014 Posted October 5, 2014 Bench him till he learns to block. If Brown can block, no room for CJ. It is that simple
bigK14094 Posted October 5, 2014 Posted October 5, 2014 (edited) That's the main reason he saw so few snaps today until Fred was hurt. He's lucky that the whiff on Palmer wasn't a strip sack turnover. Anybody else here remember that Palmer was a Bill in the Jauron era....but got cut a few games into his 1st year as I recall. Having a pretty good career...bills were wrong about that guy. CJ wont be traded this year....to late to change teams systems, and with him up for renewal, he can sign anywhere. No trade value whatsoever. Edited October 5, 2014 by bigK14094
Augie Posted October 5, 2014 Posted October 5, 2014 Â Lot of assumptions for a back that will be 28 next year. They obviously like him and I think he likes it here. Odds are he's a bill next year. Fred BTW will be 34 next year , this team cannot just shed the other starting back on the roster so easily. Â CJ could be better schemed for, and our OL needs to perform better. A better plan and blocking and we could watch him play for another team on his way to the Pro Bowl. But I get not wanting to overpay for a RB beyond a certain age. Fred is my exception! Did you see him get in front of the offense today on the sideline when things weren't working? If he's not one of your RB's he needs to be on staff as a team leader. That was an awesome sight, and happened to be right around the time things started turning around.
Bills Fan of St Augustine Posted October 5, 2014 Posted October 5, 2014 Spiller needs to be used the right way. Give him space and he is good as gone. Behind our OL he doesn't have a chance. Trade him to a team with a decent OL and he's AP. FJ is a better fit for our team right now. 3 yards and power forward for another. Love the guy! Chan knew how to use Spiller and get him some space. I wouldn't quite say he's situational, or one dimensional, but close....Decent OL and this team could go places...
thewildrabbit Posted October 5, 2014 Posted October 5, 2014 I'm pretty sure I saw a couple runs off tackle and screens today. and yet Hackett keeps calling those shotgun draw plays that get the RB tackled at or behind the line of scrimmage!! Exactly how is that Spillers fault?

Kellyto83TD Posted October 5, 2014 Posted October 5, 2014 No. See if we can trade him and start the guys we brought in

I've said it before (wayyy above) and say it again: if creating space was so easy, every OC in the pro game would be doing it for their sub 4.4 guys. The fact is, the "Get CJ in space" argument doesn't hold water. CJ needs to create his own space and he just simply cannot.
Max997 Posted October 5, 2014 Posted October 5, 2014 The problem with the running game is more about Hackett's play calling and Cracker Jack scheme then it is Spiller Fred or the below average Oline. Everyone knows when he is going to run and where the play is going yet he just keeps on calling same thing over n over

PS 56 Posted October 5, 2014 Posted October 5, 2014 Yes but we have to stop running him up the middle. Get him in space amen to that. How many times did we waste good plays doing that today? Enough already. You don't run Spiller up the middle.....

I saw Spiller on a sweep lose 2 yards today...is there another play we should cater to for his dynamic skill set???
xsoldier54 Posted October 5, 2014 Posted October 5, 2014 He should be used more as a reciever than a runnner. Let him run routes out of the backfield, but very few rushes. He just is all speed, no power.

JohninMinn. Posted October 5, 2014 Posted October 5, 2014 Spiller being victimized by horrible offensive coordinator who cant devize plays that get him in space. Our line cant open wholes up the middle.
