Philly McButterpants
This has been brewing for a while, IMO. . . . The IOC is one of the most corrupt entities on the planet. They've been sowing the seeds of this for some time now . . .
KD in CA
Good. The Olympics is unwatchable anyway -- they've completely ruined it. China and Russia will probably keep paying the price for another couple turns but hopefully the US is done with that crap.
Chef Jim
There is so much I can say here but I'll wait until it ends up over at PPP.

CountDorkula
Those are arguably security related. Those aren't. Wouldn't the private roads create a higher risk? Considering you are saying "Hey I'm over here in the non-regular people lane!"
PastaJoe
The Oylmpics became watered down once the U.S. sent pros. Nothing better than seeing college kids beating the Soviet pros.

That impacted hockey and basketball, but not much else. It became more watered down when they started adding endless #s of events; most of them just variations on the same thing or stupid 'X-games' crap or making such everything was 'gender neutral'. They used to have signature events: Women's figuring skating, Men's downhill, etc. Now it's just an endless parade of variations on the same thing with medals awarded all over the place. Total medals awarded in the 1980 Winter Olympics: 115. Total in 2014: 295. Who can keep up with that?
