Buffalo Barbarian Posted September 29, 2014 Posted September 29, 2014 That happens anyway. Orton is not a long term solution, even if he suddenly morphs into Rich Gannon. if he does that we are solid for 6 yrs at least
Big Gun Posted September 29, 2014 Posted September 29, 2014 I have a feeling we'll be very displeased with Orton after this weekend. Hater
plenzmd1 Posted September 29, 2014 Posted September 29, 2014 if he does that we are solid for 6 yrs at least i want him to be JIm Plunkett.
Felonious Monk Posted September 29, 2014 Posted September 29, 2014 It's the right move. It'll be interesting to see if the Jets follow suit and start Vick. Very similar situations. At least our guy didn't curse at a fan yesterday.
Tyrod's Tailor Posted September 29, 2014 Posted September 29, 2014 Vic Carucci @viccarucci 26s Another consideration in #Bills' QB switch is confidence of the locker room. That was a VERY dispirited bunch after Sunday's loss.
peterpan Posted September 29, 2014 Posted September 29, 2014 Alright, if this is what the Bills are going to do, fine. I like EJ, but I will support Orton if they want to go with him. However, Hackett is still the offensive coordinator, can we expect things to be that much different with Orton under center? Did it ever occur to you, or anyone for that matter, that EJ was holding back our OC? Thats how I always felt. How can you honestly grade an OC when EJ is so bad?? Dont agree but I'm most def watching the game at Det with big eyes. How is 14 games enough judge a QB that you knew was gonna be a project from the beginning?? Wow hope this does not backfire in Marrones face. If you weren't convinced after those 14 games I dont think another 14 was going to help your evaluation
26CornerBlitz Posted September 29, 2014 Posted September 29, 2014 @buffalobills 5 things to know about #Bills QB Kyle Orton http://ow.ly/C5dJc Details about Kyle Orton replacing EJ Manuel will be here (updates publishing): http://ow.ly/C5ehD (@ChrisBrownBills) UPDATED (with photos, video, quotes): Marrone makes QB switch, Kyle Orton to start Sunday http://ow.ly/C5ehD pic.twitter.com/EKANhcONne
NickelCity Posted September 29, 2014 Posted September 29, 2014 (edited) I don't get to do this often, so I think I'll take advantage of it. I called week 5 start when he was signed (ya, ya, i know, but let me have it). Screenshot from my buddy's phone: Edited September 29, 2014 by NickelCity
lostinmiami Posted September 29, 2014 Posted September 29, 2014 I'm surprised but not disappointed we've demoted EJ. I'm not certain that Orton will be better or worse, but the move could save our season.
Garranimal Posted September 29, 2014 Posted September 29, 2014 (edited) But again, give an answer. what happens if he does? Let history repeat itself.......replace Orton with Tebow and go on a 7 game winning streak, make the playoffs, win a wildcard game and have the bejeesus kicked out of us by Tommy Boy! I'd take that season over the last 14. Edited September 29, 2014 by Garranimal
Heels20X6 Posted September 29, 2014 Posted September 29, 2014 Really wish the Bills went after Josh McCown during the offseason...Orton is what he is. A career back-up.
BuffaloBillsMagic1 Posted September 29, 2014 Posted September 29, 2014 EJ has worst QBR of any starting QB in NFL, has to be the right move to sit him.. Ourreceivers must have been begging for this.
quinnearlysghost88 Posted September 29, 2014 Posted September 29, 2014 The Buffalo Bills: Where you're allotted 14 games to go from rookie to playoff QB.
ThrowingFitz Posted September 29, 2014 Posted September 29, 2014 Did they announce Orton as the starter?
Taro T Posted September 29, 2014 Posted September 29, 2014 Well considering just about ALL Bills QB's lose their very 1st start w/ a buffalo on the helmet, better to get it out of the way in a game they're expected to lose rather than at home vs the Cheatriots. Would be cool if the guy from Purdue can break the 1st start jinx.
MRW Posted September 29, 2014 Posted September 29, 2014 Dont agree but I'm most def watching the game at Det with big eyes. How is 14 games enough judge a QB that you knew was gonna be a project from the beginning?? Wow hope this does not backfire in Marrones face. It's enough to judge, at a minimum, that he's not ready to be out on the field right now. I've been hoping for Manuel to succeed but when he's just not making the plays you have to make a switch. It doesn't necessarily mean he's done for all time (though if I were a betting man that's the way I'd bet). Maybe he can still turn it around and perform if he gets called on.
JC2002 Posted September 29, 2014 Posted September 29, 2014 Let history repeat itself.......replace Orton with Tebow and go on a 7 game winning streak, make the playoffs, win a wildcard game and have the bejeesus kicked out of us by Tommy Boy! I'd take that season over the last 14. They then cut Tebow out of the league after the season was over while Orton has now gone on to sign two pretty good contracts . The defense and running game was the key there they put tebow in expecting to get a high first rd pick and wanted Rg3 . The defense took off and they just rode it .
NickelCity Posted September 29, 2014 Posted September 29, 2014 Really wish the Bills went after Josh McCown during the offseason...Orton is what he is. A career back-up. Isn't that what McCown is? Orton got jobbed in Denver, and I don't think anyone thinks he'll be a world beater. Just someone who can manage a game would be nice.
Wacka Posted September 29, 2014 Posted September 29, 2014 Who are you going tpo name if Orton has no pocket and no time?
The Big Cat Posted September 29, 2014 Posted September 29, 2014 The Buffalo Bills: Where you're allotted 14 games to go from rookie to playoff QB. Come on, buddy. They just needed him to be competent. They gave him 14 games to be competent. He is not. Yet.
