John from Riverside Posted September 29, 2014 Posted September 29, 2014 In the end this had to happen....credit the front office staff for making this move while we are still in playoff contention. EJ Manuel needs to hold a clipboard for the year.

thewildrabbit Posted September 29, 2014 Posted September 29, 2014 Lucky Orton, as he gets to face the #1 ranked defense and arguably the best front four in the NFL.
Bills Fan in MD Posted September 29, 2014 Posted September 29, 2014 I have a bad feeling that Ndamukong Suh could make this a very short-lived QB switch after his first hit on the QB this Sunday.
San-O Posted September 29, 2014 Posted September 29, 2014 Guess everyone got what they wanted. So what happens next week or in the coming weeks when Orton sucks? Well, at LEAST Orton will suck throwing the ball more than 15 ft. : )
Buffalo Barbarian Posted September 29, 2014 Posted September 29, 2014 Per text from Bills ahh yeah! it's on now! (not that I believe Orton is great but, I need to be excited about some thing)
947 Posted September 29, 2014 Posted September 29, 2014 Even if Orton does well, it'll be 3 games tops before he gets dinged with his mobility + our OG play. EJ will likely get back in by mid-season.
What a Tuel Posted September 29, 2014 Posted September 29, 2014 Have you? because he didn't LOSE his job to Tebow. Tebow was given the job because he was the prized 1st round pick. They wouldn't have made the change if Orton was winning though. That said I hope Orton exceeds your expectations this week.
bobobonators Posted September 29, 2014 Posted September 29, 2014 Lucky Orton, as he gets to face the #1 ranked defense and arguably the best front four in the NFL. The Lions won't be the #1 Defense after we're done with them.
Buffalo Barbarian Posted September 29, 2014 Posted September 29, 2014 Well know we will know where the problem lies. Scouting? In the end this had to happen....credit the front office staff for making this move while we are still in playoff contention. EJ Manuel needs to hold a clipboard for the year. forever
BRH Posted September 29, 2014 Posted September 29, 2014 IMO this is as much about Sammy Watkins as it is about EJ. Everyone saw Sammy "take a play off" two weeks ago after Goodwin got blown up, and then come in and drop two more passes yesterday, plus wisely decide not to lay out for a floater in the fourth quarter. EJ has been putting receiver after receiver into harm's way and the Bills probably decided they want Watkins on the field for the rest of the season... something that is unlikely to happen with EJ under center. Whether EJ is done is something I'm not really concerned about. I'm just glad we finally treated him like a player who needs to earn his job, rather than as a first-rounder who needs to play his way out of one.
BILLS_ROC Posted September 29, 2014 Posted September 29, 2014 However, Hackett is still the offensive coordinator, can we expect things to be that much different with Orton under center? Well, if Orton doesn't throw into double coverage PAST two wide open crossing routes, then yes, we could expect things might be different with Orton. Any QB that can even begin to process what's happening after the snap when it doesn't involve a CB falling down or someone being open in all directions by 8+ yards will be an improvement. I think the play calling is far less of a problem than not taking advantage of receivers who get open.
Dorkington Posted September 29, 2014 Posted September 29, 2014 Lucky Orton, as he gets to face the #1 ranked defense and arguably the best front four in the NFL. I have a feeling we'll be very displeased with Orton after this weekend.
Kelly the Dog Posted September 29, 2014 Posted September 29, 2014 I was expecting this maybe next week, but let's go Orton. If he plays well this week they will look like geniuses. If he craps the bed, they will say it was the #1 D on the road in an impossible win, and then give him two more chances at home against the Pats and on the road against The Jets. So maybe this was the right time, just in case he has it down already, and the rest of the team steps up.
Rico Posted September 29, 2014 Posted September 29, 2014 At least he made it thru week 4, JP got the hook after week 3 in 2007.
SmokinES3 Posted September 29, 2014 Posted September 29, 2014 (edited) Will you be more disgusted if the browns have our top 10 pick next year? One of the myriad reasons I'm disgusted. It was an easier pill to swallow if EJ was an NFL QB. Edited September 29, 2014 by SmokinES3
Wayne Cubed Posted September 29, 2014 Posted September 29, 2014 Are they gonna do a EJ jersey swap for all the fans that they sold "EJ is our franchise QB" to?
Over 29 years of fanhood Posted September 29, 2014 Posted September 29, 2014 Sweet which lucky poster will initiate the first official 2014 season Orton sucks thread???
billsfan714 Posted September 29, 2014 Posted September 29, 2014 And I just changed my signature line....guess there are people at 1 Bills drive that know football.
Freddie's Dead Posted September 29, 2014 Posted September 29, 2014 At least he made it thru week 4, JP got the hook after week 3 in 2007. This. EJ is done in Buffalo. JP redux.
