Just my take. If NE loses it tells me the division is up for grabs and the Bills should give up on the EJ experiment and see if Orton can win and take advantage of the opportunity. Jets and Dolphins are trash and I think the wheels are falling off NE. The Time is ripe for the Bills to get the division. Cuddle and wet nurse EJ next year.

I don't see KC winning, but you make a good point. I looked up Orton's stats, and one of the reasons his lifetime rating is 79.9 is due to being a back up for several years. The years he was the starter and on less talented teams in Chicago and Denver, he had some nice success.

I can see KC getting a win.

FWIW many "experts" had them locked as a WC team. They did finish 11-5 last season. Arrowhead can get VERY loud. Lets pull for the 12th man

IF the Puts lose tonight, the Bills would still hold a half game advantage over them.

14 games into a rookies career is NOT the time to pull the plug,

IN

Orton's a good QB. Always has been. But the Bills are competitive. Right there in every game. Maybe going to Orton a good idea, who knows. Maybe. Having EJ put it up 44 times is insanity.

Orton is JAG. Nothing special, not a hero, not a superstar, again he's JAG,

I agree with the OP and also think KC can win. But none of us drafted EJ and we aren't privy to the 'Master Plan' @ OBD.

I DON'T think we'll win next week, which puts a great emphasis on the Pats* the following week.

Orton is at least familiar playing in Detroit and giving him a game before facing NE makes sense to me.

But, as always, the Master Plan will be the route we take..

I would actually argue the opposite. If NE loses give EJ this last game because that gives them a little room. Yes it would be nice to open up a lead but I think starting Orton on the road against the best defense in the league as his first start is silly unless you are already behind in the AFC East race.

JAG QB's don't really exist. That's why Alex Smith and Andy Dalton get lots of $. Mediocre QB's have value. They give you a chance to win by being competent, if they have good pieces around them. A terrible QB gives you no such chance.

I don't think I'd be wrong saying Orton is a better QB than EJ right now, without even seeing him play. The issue might be a) Orton doesn't know the entire playbook and b) the interior O-line is so messed up right now Orton would have the same issues as EJ because they can't block on pass plays and can't open holes on run plays.

Didn't Marrone suggest EJ doesn't know the whole play book in his presser after the game?

Dalton may be more than average, and then you have to ask why Alex Smith got dumped by the 49ers.

You do not need a super star QB to win.

Still with the IN stuff?

only occasionally.

still with the repetitive threads? whats this one? the 400th?

I'm lazy. Give me a link to one of the 400 should the outcome of the NE-KC game affect our QB choice threads. You know all the popular kids gave up "in" like forever ago. That is SO yesterday.

But you need to not have a terrible one. You keep saying superstar as if there's nothing in between that and EJ. And at the same time arguing minutia about Dalton & Smith being better or worse than I think. Whatever. They are clearly both the prototype JAGS you're talking about when describing Orton; as good as the team around them. Which is worlds better than EJ.

I'm actually in favor of giving EJ the entire season to work out the kinks, but, if you were going to go the Orton route, I think you give EJ one more game against a good Lions defense to bury himself. I honestly don't see any possibility of him playing well in that situation, so it's almost a guaranteed loss and EJ meltdown. Then, coming back to the Ralph, against the Pats, there is absolutely no way you can play EJ without the crowd showering the field with boos. It's the perfect setup to insert Orton and give the team an emotional lift against a divisional opponent.

Don't need a set up, it's Marrones call. It's not Bills fan 4 ever or John from helmats call. If the Pats look weak go for the juggler. Win now, put off the nursing EJ thing till later.

I sat behind the Bills bench yesterday and routinely focused on Orton. He stood by himself most of the game, talking only very rarely to other teammates. Never met w/ EJ or the coaches to look at field pics, discuss opportunities or just provide encouragement. Talk about player 'body-language'! It just added to my queeziness. 'WTF is he doing here' I wondered.. Still, throw him into the fire! The season is slipping away'

I don't know. Did he? That would be bigger news if true, no?
