These ongoing evaluation writeups should be posted in every single EJ thread that inevitably pops up throughout the season. Great find! Edited September 25, 2014 by 26CornerBlitz

Dopey Posted September 25, 2014 Posted September 25, 2014 I think Rivers is just really good, and EJ isn't yet. It's not rocket surgery. It's not rocket surgery.

Rob's House Posted September 25, 2014 Posted September 25, 2014 Yeah, sure. Lets let him throw pick sixes and throw games away like Geno. Or better yet, run around recklessly and get injured like Vick or RGIII. How about let him control the offense. Don't take unnecessary risks and win games. It's working so far. We are in first place in the division and the AFC looks to be wide open. It's a sad commentary on the state of a franchise when the fan base views being 2-1 as a substantial accomplishment.

It's not rocket surgery. +1 However we may want to dissect different plays, I think FireChan is on target (though I'm not sure how you perform surgery on rockets). EJ isn't good yet. I hope he becomes good. I think he may. But he wasn't good in the winds of the Ralph against SD. Kelly was challenged in those same winds and tended to put up good numbers anyway. Not always, but often. EJ needs to learn. Eventually, some posters here on TBD will say they were right about EJ and some will have to admit they were wrong. I think it's all random luck. None of us know with any certainty how much EJ will improve over time. I'm not sure the coaches who work with him every day can answer that question yet. I think we all need to watch, wait and see. The only reasonable argument is how long we wait before handing the offense over to Orton or someone else. But anyone arguing that EJ is going to be great is suffering from Wishful Thinking. Anyone arguing that EJ will never be great is suffering from Eternal Pessimism. As fans, we always have opinions but certainly no one yet knows. Edited September 25, 2014 by hondo in seattle

hondo in seattle Posted September 25, 2014 Posted September 25, 2014 It's a sad commentary on the state of a franchise when the fan base views being 2-1 as a substantial accomplishment. Since their inception, I think the Bills have won something like 46% of their games. So, personally, while acknowledging it's a long season, I'm happy to celebrate a 67% winning percentage.
The_Dude Posted September 25, 2014 Posted September 25, 2014 Talking about EJs accuracy is like talking about Peyton Mannings speed.
Maddog69 Posted September 25, 2014 Posted September 25, 2014 It's a sad commentary on the state of a franchise when the fan base views being 2-1 as a substantial accomplishment. I think you have it backwards. In the current NFL with the parody as it is, (and with the Bills where they've been the last 14 years), any fan who doesn't look positively at a 2-1 record and 1st place in the division after 3 weeks as a good thing probably won't be happy with anything. Like I said in another post, it seems that many here are just negative for the sake of being negative (or maybe just to argue).
34-78-83 Posted September 25, 2014 Posted September 25, 2014 I'd bet the farm that you were looking at a mirror when you typed this. Try me

I'm happy about it too (and I wasn't trying to single you out, you just had a post that mentioned it.) I'm just saying that it speaks to how poor the franchise has been when such a modest accomplishment is such a big deal to the fans. Put differently, I doubt fans of Balt, Pit, Hou, SD, or Den think 2-1 means much. Edited September 25, 2014 by Rob's House

I doubt Balt, Pit, SD or Denver are nit picking every throw by their QB and whether or not he slid to early on a scramble.

Maddog69 Posted September 25, 2014 Posted September 25, 2014 I notice you left NE off that list. NE wasn't on your list. I left of Houston because, well, they have Fitz who threw away their game last week.

Fadingpain Posted September 25, 2014 Posted September 25, 2014 So, for all of the EJ critics, if he completed 2 more passes in each of the last 3 games, would you be happy? Because that that point, He'd be at 70% completion percentage and would be at exactly the same statistical level as Russell Wilson? So I guess we've found the quantifiable number for suckiness. EJ is 2 completions per game below suckiness. What if Chandler could actually catch or if Sammy the Great didn't give up on a play? This debate wouldn't exist. If "Ifs" and "buts" were candy and nuts, we'd all have a merry Christmas. Pointing to a completion % without looking at the actual games and saying he is accurate is a joke. The RBs have to dive for dump off passes... or it sails over their heads out of bounds. Accuracy and his lack of field vision will do him in. Dude couldn't throw it into the ocean from a boat. I swear to God this year one of our WRs is going to be cut in half due to a wildly inaccurate pass from EJ. We have been LUCKY so far. He has already hung his receivers out to dry multiple times. We have been lucky to not have sustained a serious injury as a result. YET. And yet, he's 2-1 right now. A lot of people around here seem content to point out we are 2-1, as though that makes everything OK. It does, actually, FOR NOW. Hang on a minute. Wait a while. If you think we will continue to win 2 out of 3, you're crazy.
