Madam Secretary

Recommended Posts

Okay, so episode two was about Benghazi. They just went right for it, while combining it with the dangers (and benefits) to the proliferation and growing dependence upon private military contractors. Tea was the lone voice of reason as the embassy in Yemen was being targeted for an attack, forced to rely upon private contractors when the President refused to send in troops to protect the ambassador. The attack comes, they say "its another Benghazi" at least four times, but in the end the private contractors save the ambassador, proving her to be a genius.

So they made her a Secretary of State who actually gave a **** about an American ambassador?

You're right Greg, this show isn't about Hilary.

Oh, there are still plenty of those types of moments. Enough to make most not want to watch I'm sure. The surprising thing (to me at least) was that Leoni's background in the show isn't that she's an academic, but former CIA field agent and the president is the former head of CIA. She gets the job when the current SecofState's plane goes down -- which of course turns out to be part of a larger conspiracy that Leoni is warned about by her former spook colleague...

...right before he's killed for knowing too much.

That's all I meant about a spy show.

Michael Jackson?

Madam Secretary’ Recreates Secretary of State as Savior of Benghazi

by Katie Yoder

History is written by the victors – and, it would seem, the media.

CBS’ “Madam Secretary” outdid itself burnishing the fictional Hillary Clinton reputation with its second episode entitled, “Another Benghazi.” The Sept. 28 episode included everything from the Faux Hillary answering a 3 a.m. call (1:06 a.m. actually) to using extra State Department resources to ensure the safety of our ambassador – this time in Yemen.

This is not a defense of the show, or a slam on the right:

CBS is the most right leaning network out there, especially in the drama department. This is because the average age of a CBS viewer skews much older than the other networks. It's an easy show to target because of the obvious allusions to Hillary (I definitely expect it to be a reoccurring theme) but it's clear the author didn't actually watch the episode. If anything, the first two episodes of this show have taken more slams at the left (academics running the White House, PC language being the only acceptable language, image being more important than substance in the Oval Office) than it has at the right.

Hell, the end of this episode lauds the accomplishment of a private army after spending the first 40 minutes making them out to be the devil (literally).

Take shots at the show all you want (the author, not you B), but at least watch the show you're writing about.

And you don't find anything ironic, hilarious, or hacked beyond all recognition about this?

The "lone voice of reason"? Yeah, this isn't a Hillary infomercial at all.

The really funny part: there are dopes in your town that actually think this is going to work. Unmitigated morons.

Let me be the lone voice of reason for them: "What difference does it make?" on one 20 second ad, is worth 10x the entire production value of this TV show.

Americans will never accept leadership cowardice in the face of the enemy, while troops at the front are fighting a heroic, but losing battle. Never. That has become the history of Benghazi. No amount of spin is going to change this.

Not saying Hillary loses because of it, because there are many other factors, but, the blatantly obvious approach here is to lay this off on Obama, and try to re-make Hillary the "lone voice of reason" that night. It may work, but it probably won't.

Why? Because "What difference does it make?"....t-shirts, signs, posters, chia pets, videos, and on and on.

I think you overestimate the intelligence of the average American.
