BuffaloBill Posted September 23, 2014 Posted September 23, 2014 Sadly, I've been to none. Happily, this experience gap can be closed.
Just Jack Posted September 23, 2014 Posted September 23, 2014 Where's TGI Fridays at the mall listed? That place has been there forever.
Chef Jim Posted September 23, 2014 Posted September 23, 2014 I've been to The Saloon in SF and that's it. This really shows how few states I've visited. Driven through a lot of them but have not stayed long in many.
plenzmd1 Posted September 23, 2014 Posted September 23, 2014 Been to 4. The ones in DC , VA, and MD, plus the salon in San Francisco. Surprised if most people have not been to the Old Ebbitt in DC. Close to The Mall, great oyster house, still a very good place.
Azalin Posted September 23, 2014 Posted September 23, 2014 I didn't realize that Scholz Garten was the oldest bar in Texas, and I've been there. their chicken fried steak is deadly.

Just Jack Posted September 23, 2014 Posted September 23, 2014 I'm going to Missouri for work this week, but looking at the map I'll be too far away to hit that one. too bad, it looks really interesting.
BillsFanNC Posted September 23, 2014 Posted September 23, 2014 I've been to the Old Ebbitt and the one in Deadwood, SD.
KD in CA Posted September 23, 2014 Posted September 23, 2014 Only been to one but it's the oldest of the lot -- White Horse Tavern in Newport, RI.
Philly McButterpants Posted September 23, 2014 Posted September 23, 2014 Was just in Lafitte's Blacksmith this past weekend. 1 for me . . Although the PA bar in Ambler is close enough for a visit . . .
The Poojer Posted September 23, 2014 Posted September 23, 2014 i've been to city tavern and mcgillins in philly, both very old bars, never heard of this one in ambler... Was just in Lafitte's Blacksmith this past weekend. 1 for me . . Although the PA bar in Ambler is close enough for a visit . . .
Beerball Posted September 24, 2014 Author Posted September 24, 2014 Only been to one but it's the oldest of the lot -- White Horse Tavern in Newport, RI. Same here.
Dr. Fong Posted September 24, 2014 Posted September 24, 2014 Interesting list, but man is that site a nightmare on mobile.
BuffaloBud Posted September 24, 2014 Posted September 24, 2014 Site for tavern in OH says it is the second oldest. Now? Which one is right?

HamSandwhich Posted September 26, 2014 Posted September 26, 2014 After I had seen this thread and read the article, I quickly made a reservation at Jameson Tavern in Freeport ME for this Sunday evening (after the Bills game). I'll report back here with the results when I can. I'm going to try and catch the alleged "little girl ghost" that they say is a "playful spirit." Not buying it, not going to let her ruin my meal, so I'm bringing my proton pack and I'm going to catch her before we sit down to eat.
Dante Posted September 26, 2014 Posted September 26, 2014 How cool is the Kings Tavern in Mississippi? Finding 3 bodies and a ancient dagger during a reno? Has to be ghosts there! Great article thanks for posting. Want to go over it closer when I get a chance.

Maybe you can kill two birds with one stone and turn that into the new HQ for the Maine Bills Backers.
Saxum Posted September 27, 2014 Posted September 27, 2014 Been to one in Hawaii, DC and Delaware. Only thing remarkable was food in Jessop's Tavern in DE. Seen one in Rhode Island time I was in state and no idea of significance.
