seq004
I hope they make the change sooner rather than later. If they keep EJ in we won't make the playoffs. Admit the mistake now before it's to late. His throws are inconsistent and inaccurate. He takes one foot foward and two steps back. Even Kelly and Tasker see it and with as much talent we have on offense we should be putting up points and we are not. I know Orton can get it done NOW, then draft one next year. With the Cleveland pick going from us to them this staff may have no choice. We must make the playoffs this year. Great kid, great character. Will not be sucussful in the NFL. offyourocker
A lot of people points that he only has 13 starts but look at Cousins, Foles. They have few starts and yet get 300+ yards games.
qdawg in philly
Completely disagree. Manual had time to throw on many occasions. He just can't. Seems like it's going to be yet another TBD week with a hundred 'EJ Sucks' threads. I wonder if there's a message here.. (Doh!) And I completely agree. I don't know what game everyone was watching, but yes he had plenty of time on several plays.sometimes he held the ball too long and other times not long enough. ExiledInIllinois
If train wreck is a 90 QB rating, imagine how good it will be when he isn't a train wreck! Maybe I should have said: "a train wreck in the making." To steal a line from The Dead and Chef's thread in OTW: "...Trouble with you is the trouble with me Got two good eyes but we still don't see Come round the bend, you know it's the end The fireman screams and the engine just gleams..." KOKBILLS
This is not rocket science and the media has to be a bit dramatic...At least I'm guessing they do...They need ratings... EJ does have to be more accurate...And I'm not one to bash EJ...Not by a long-shot...But that game was winnable yesterday and he missed some big passes...Some potential game changers...Was he under duress? Yes...Did he have time to make a better throw? You bet he did, and he just missed...I guess the good news is on most occasions he was throwing to the right guy...meaning he read the D properly...But he just missed...He missed two easy ones in the red zone vs Miami too...It's an issue...If he does not clean it up by the end of the year there is no question his job will be in jeopardy... Having Orton around is certainly going to get people talking...I'm not saying the Bills would have beat SD with Orton because chances are he's still not 100% comfortable with the Offense anyway...I am saying if EJ hits on a few of those plays that were available yesterday it's an entirely different game in the 4th quarter...The crowd is going crazy and the Bills certainly could have pulled it out...And for a team that wants to win now, with veterans in their prime and a HC who is fighting for his job, I'm not sure how many of those performances EJ is going to get before the hook comes out...I'm not saying that's going to happen...I'm just saying I don't know... billykaykay
Better pass pro and a cleaner pocket certainly would help. Orton would look no better behind the kind of substandard OL play we witnessed yesterday. The OL would look a lot better if the QB would get rid of the damn ball. Kemp
Cousins had a 58 QB rating last year. Foles threw 6 tds and 5 ints as a rookie and had a 79 QB rating. Hindsight is awesome and patience sucks. How was Foles in his second season? Cousins has less starts than EJ. Would you rather have EJ or either of them? It is no longer about hindsight. Colin cowherd is in my top 10 of guys I want to punch in the face, Curious what you have against him. I think he has the best feel for football of any of the radio hosts. QCity
I am saying if EJ hits on a few of those plays that were available yesterday it's an entirely different game in the 4th quarter...The crowd is going crazy and the Bills certainly could have pulled it out. The play that sticks out is at 10:10 in the 4th -- the deep middle to Woods. If he hits that pass, there's a good chance Woods takes it to the house. He had a perfectly clean pocket, plenty of time, and loads of room to step into the throw. He could have waited longer for Woods to come open, but he inexplicably rushed the throw and wasn't even close to hitting his receiver. That's a game changer right there, and another example of a throw that he has to make.

Excellent and balanced observation. I am also surprised that no one is talking more about the pass on which Goodwin almost got killed. You could see the regret on EJ's face after the play. A few minutes later in the game Watkins admittedly alligator-armed a pass for fear of getting knocked out. If this keeps up, there may be a revolt in the locker room. GG
2) No QB is going to look good with the OL play the Bills had yesterday. As an aside, weren't Chargers dumpster diving to fill OL spots in the last week? Don't Bills have one of the best DLs in the game? Yet which QB got pressured more? How about that OL guru head coach of ours? Cousins had a 58 QB rating last year. Foles threw 6 tds and 5 ints as a rookie and had a 79 QB rating. Hindsight is awesome and patience sucks. Wasn't that because 'skins D was horrible and he was always battling from behind and needed to air it out? How's he doing this year?
starrymessenger
EJ has been playing football all his life. If he doesn't know how to throw a football by now he never will. He is not a natural. He is robotic. There is no fluidity to his reactions. And that has nothing to do with his physical attributes. It is a reflection of his mindset. In other words he is just not at home on an NFL playing field. An NFL QB needs to act like he owns it, even if he sometimes winds up taking his lumps. He's a great kid. I like his stat sheet. But he's not an NFL QB, or at least he sure as heck doesn't look like one that I've ever seen. A purely subjective impression to be sure, but strongly felt. Hope I'm wrong, but don't think so. Rob's House
Hasselback would certainly no what **** QB play looks like 7 games played 63.6 QB rating Do you have a point? Saying he doesn't think and that's an issue is so ignorant of you. Race? Obviously, the guys on radio are ignorant bashers. They are old white guys. 26CornerBlitz
EJ - "I think my accuracy is fine" He should think again. It's an issue. Saying he doesn't think and that's an issue is so ignorant of you. I'm still puzzled how you arrived at what you accused me of posting when it meant noting like what you misinterpreted it to be. The point was if he thinks his accuracy is fine, he should reconsider. You are way off base there. Next time read and understand the context before you make yourself look ignorant. Captain Hindsight
I just wish we had no doubt about EJ. I think he is the most talented player we have had at the QB position since Jim Kelly. He can make throws that make you go "Wow" and others that just make you sigh. That play yesterday when he broke 3 tackles and then completed a pass to chandler was awesome. The talent is there When I watch him live and on tape I see a guy that is so close to being good. I want him to put it together so badly and become the guy he is capable of being. For once I just want a reason to be excited for Sunday. Cmon EJ! Make it happen!
