BuffaloBill Posted September 21, 2014 Posted September 21, 2014 For all the Bills chatter about taking the pressure off EJ with a powerful O-line and a stable of excellent RB's the talk proved cheap. The Bills need never waste another 1st round pick on a RB. The Bills running game was hardly a factor in this game. Given that the NFL is a copycat league the Bolts showed everyone today the weaknesses of the Bills.
Kipers Hair Posted September 22, 2014 Posted September 22, 2014 It's the most important position and unfortunately for us, a department we still lack in. Hopefully, some more seasoning and we will be "good enough" at the position.

Running backs are one of the least important positions on the field why the QB is without a shadow of a doubt the most important position on the field.,
BuffaloBill Posted September 22, 2014 Author Posted September 22, 2014 Captain Obvious, is that you? Yes
Gugny Posted September 22, 2014 Posted September 22, 2014 The O Line is the most important piece of the puzzle. Even more important than the QB, in my opinion. An okay QB becomes a good QB with a decent O Line. An average RB becomes Terrell Davis, Mike Anderson or Olandis Gary with a great O Line. It all starts there. Yup. EJ sucked today. But he also had no time to even attempt to be good.

But a good offensive line can be overpowered at will by overloading one side or the other any time they want to. Or just by throwing in a blitz package that the offense hasn't seen before. That is why you have to have a quarterback who can beat you under pressure. EJ showed he could beat the defense 1 time today that was an absolutely awesome play. The rest of the game, he looked like a typical sucky qb who can't handle pressure at all. Rookie to the core today. He has to play better or this team sucks going forward. Offensive line or not, you have to have better QB play than that.
mrags Posted September 22, 2014 Posted September 22, 2014 Everyone sucked today. But especially the Line, the RBs (mainly CJ and his 25 yards on 10 carries) and EJ. Even he WRs sucked. Woods had a sure TD but didn't turn his head around quick enought to realize the ball was in the middle of the field 3 yards away from him. Forget that the pass wasn't thrown great and right at him. Of he turns his head back to the QB it's a TD.
Tampa Bob Posted September 22, 2014 Posted September 22, 2014 Aside from a couple long runs in each game, none of our rbs have done much all year. It might have something to do with EVERYBODY knowing exactly when and where we are going to run ALL THE TIME!
Dean Cain Posted September 22, 2014 Posted September 22, 2014 How many rushing touchdowns do we have this year? 1? Didn't EJ score on that one? Yikes.
thewildrabbit Posted September 22, 2014 Posted September 22, 2014 That powerful O line has two major holes in it at the OG position. Which BTW the way is usually an indicating factor on how well the team can run block, and they couldn't get any push from them at all. 15 RB rushes all game...really? Third down and one, and Hackett calls for a Spiller run play up the middle. CJ was swarmed behind the line of scrimmage before he could even get started. Bad play call in a bad scheme, and bad players who can't execute a simple run play. We have seen this before, year after year. QB's that never realize any kind of potential because they continuously get beaten down. Elite RB's utilized in the wrong way. Marshawn Lynch can't get yardage...unless he is dragging three defenders on his back. So trade a 1st round pick for a 4th, and that team gets help to the SB with outstanding RB play. Both Spiller, and Fred are elite players on teams where the coaching staffs have no clue how to get the most out of them. Gailey at least had a clue, and simply chose to have Fitz throw it more.
