Study shows over last decade west coast teams had a .341 win percentage in the eastern time zone...

People don't factor this in enough, there were studies done showing players reaction times were significantly negatively altered the next day after long flights to the point Nike and an airline company are trying to develop special planes to deal with this for teams to help the players not suffer these issues...has to do with Circadian rhythms being altered...

San Diego no matter what they say is at a significant disadvantage due to this alone

Seems obvious but this is missing one key piece of data... What are the road records of these teams? Taking a small sample of the road games is great if your cherry picking data to make a point but the only way this is significant is if the variance between east coast road games and non-east coast road games has statistical significance. Descriptive stats suck.

Then there is the problem of BFLO and SD.

Historically, BFLO is 6-12-1 in SD. SD in BFLO is 10-6-1

Last decade: BFLO is 0-2 in SD. SD is 1-1 in BFLO.

Seems to be working in reverse... Which coast has the advantage?

I too have a tough time believing that 3 hour time change makes that big a difference in the performance. If they said that traveling to Europe caused a problem due to the ~ 11 hour change, I may buy that. Isolating one variable and trying to prove causation is a futile exercise. The Dean and others may weigh in with a more precise explanation of taking data and trying to fit one variable to the observed result.

IMHO, this contention is BS

Makes you wonder if the quality of the teams playing is a factor in the outcome as well.

SD is also playing at 10AM their time. X-Country, at Buffalo this week (after a very emotional win in 100+ deg weather) is an absolute classic trap game for SD. Rivers is a down but never out kind of player and he will make it very difficult to close this one out. Our D, RB's and 12th man will eventually break their backs.

The Bills have yet to play at their peak. As Bart Scott says, "Can't Wait!"

No, they have studies showing reaction times are significantly reduced which in games where split seconds are of huge importance, can be disastrous

One thing I wonder about for a trip of that length in any direction is the coach seat. I'm nearly 6' and 170lbs+, and normal coach feels very restrictive to me. Most guys in the NFL are bigger with some nearly 2x as heavy. How do they fit in such cramped spaces and how does that effect them being for 5 hours or so?

BUT, outside of division, same Conference... Teams usually matchup. When BFLO was bad and SD rising, they didn't play each other and vice-a-versa. No? Schedule is set up against how they finish in division?

Yeah... A chartered flight is pretty rough... ;-P

Chartered can be worse in terms of service than normal.commercial airlines. But my point relates to coach seat size.

Do they have to sell every seat on a chartered flight? They book the "plane", right? I am pretty sure a football team can spread out on a big airplane that carries well over a 100... That's 2 seats for one? No?

someone can find it, i'm too lazy, but there is no such thing as a trap game and stats exist to prove it.
