PromoTheRobot Posted September 16, 2014 Posted September 16, 2014 (edited) Terry could have made him, Thurman or anyone else part of his group but chose to keep it in the family. I love Kelly for who he is and what he means to Buffalo but I would not do business with him. Edited September 16, 2014 by PromoTheRobot
Hammered a Lot Posted September 16, 2014 Posted September 16, 2014 Terry could have made him, Thurman or anyone else part of his group but chose to keep it in the family. I love Kelly for who he is and what he means to Buffalo but I would not do business with him. Total agree.
bigdogtim Posted September 16, 2014 Posted September 16, 2014 Pegula worked really hard to make himself the perfect purchaser. That meant going it alone until he becomes the approved purchaser. He may well bring in a token minority owner, but given the bidding that was going on, what he did and is still doing makes sense. Let's wait and see from here after the Owners' Meetings.
LabattBlue Posted September 16, 2014 Posted September 16, 2014 Not to mention based on Pegula's purchase price, a 1% share of the team is worth $14 mil. Even if Pegula was open to an idea like this, you think Kelly has that kind of money?
The Big Cat Posted September 16, 2014 Posted September 16, 2014 No. What's the point? Terry could have made him, Thurman or anyone else part of his group but chose to keep it in the family. I love Kelly for who he is and what he means to Buffalo but I would not do business with him. /thread (as far as TBC is concerned)
Buftex Posted September 16, 2014 Posted September 16, 2014 If the Pegulas treatment of the Bills is anything like what it has been with the Sabres, I have little doubt that Kelly will be involved with the Bills, in one capacity or another for as long as he wants, or he doesn't piss anyone off...
Captain Caveman Posted September 16, 2014 Posted September 16, 2014 (edited) Reports earlier this year indicated Kelly wanted to be given a percentage of the team and lifetime jobs for him and his brother for being involved with a potential ownership group. It didn't really sound like he was interested in actually purchasing (part of) the team. Edited September 16, 2014 by Captain Caveman
KD in CA Posted September 16, 2014 Posted September 16, 2014 Not without incurring a lot of extra legal costs and complications.
Billshank Redemption Posted September 16, 2014 Posted September 16, 2014 Reports earlier this year indicated Kelly wanted to be given a percentage of the team and lifetime jobs for him and his brother for being involved with a potential ownership group. It didn't really sound like he was interested in actually purchasing (part of) the team. This as well as the post above about not doing business with him. Great guy but were I the Pegulas I wouldn't let him snag a stake.
May Day 10 Posted September 16, 2014 Posted September 16, 2014 no. Kelly basically "owns" part of the Bills anyway in the way of his legacy. He is probably their most recognizable alum (besides OJ). We do know Pegula is motivated to provide an open door for alumni to be involved.
Best Player Available Posted September 16, 2014 Posted September 16, 2014 Terry could have made him, Thurman or anyone else part of his group but chose to keep it in the family. I love Kelly for who he is and what he means to Buffalo but I would not do business with him. This sums it up well.
Nick the Greek Posted September 16, 2014 Posted September 16, 2014 If the team appreciates a bit, so would Jim's stake in the team. He could sell it and make a hefty profit. You think Terry wants to miss out on that?
