GG Posted October 7, 2014 Posted October 7, 2014 (edited) Capitalism, bad. (need subscription) Snippets: "Firestone Natural Rubber Company LLC. Then they built two Ebola isolation clinics, using shipping containers and plastic wrap. They trained their janitors how to bury Ebola corpses. Their agricultural surveyors mapped the virus as it spread house to house, and teachers at the company’s schools went door-to-door to explain the disease. “It was like flying an airplane and reading the manual at the same time,” said Philippines-born Mr. Garcia, who runs this 185-square-mile stretch of rubber trees.Six months later, Firestone has turned the tide of infections, offering a sanctuary of health in a country where cases are doubling every three weeks. .... An hour’s drive from here, in Monrovia, Liberia’s capital, clinics are packed, and scores are dying daily. The difference isn’t that Firestone applied any breakthrough tactics in fighting a virus first identified four decades ago, health experts and company officials said. It is that the rubber company had the money, manpower, and organization to tackle an epidemic that several sovereign West African governments found bewildering.More than 3,400 people have died in West Africa</a>, according to the latest figures from the World Health Organization. Many times that number have died at home, infecting their families without entering a clinic, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said." Edited October 7, 2014 by GG
B-Man Posted October 7, 2014 Posted October 7, 2014 OBVIOUSLY, THEY’RE NOT TAXED ENOUGH: Greedy Corporation Stops Ebola Spread in Liberia. “NPR’s report puts emphasis on Firestone’s financial resources, but I think they miss the ‘X’ factor that causes these private-sector employees to succeed outside of their bailiwick: They’re accustomed to setting goals, achieving results and being rewarded based on actual accomplishments. In addition, they’re innovative, and know that one must often improvise and create rapid prototypes on the way to the ultimate product.”

It will work just as well as what they did with illegal aliens.

DC Tom Posted October 10, 2014 Posted October 10, 2014 It's racism I tell ya!! Get Jesse Jackson on the phone....oh wait. http://www.cnn.com/2....html?hpt=hp_t1 There have been more stories written about Ebola in Dallas than there have been about Ebola in Africa. If Jesse's in Dallas looking for racism, he's looking in the wrong !@#$ing place. But then, not even Jesse gives a **** about Africa.

She's very concerned about Africans. Or at least the label of being African.
Azalin Posted October 10, 2014 Posted October 10, 2014 I think you're mistaking Jesse for Oprah. She's very concerned about Africans. Or at least the label of being African. I was under the impression that she was more concerned with 'black' than 'African'. Africans are just Africans, but blacks are oppressed.
Nanker Posted October 10, 2014 Posted October 10, 2014 Looks like Okra's a bit north of 300 lbs again. At least the girlfriend knows how to eat.
DC Tom Posted October 11, 2014 Posted October 11, 2014 By the way...the original plan, where the military was providing logistic support, with only a small portion of trained military doctors dealing directly with patients? Yeah...that's going to go by the wayside. Not nearly enough health care workers in the epidemic zones, so non-medical troops are being trained in nursing. Considering the amount of training it takes to properly protect oneself from Ebola as a health care worker, and how often mistakes are made nonetheless...expect casualties.
