Rob's House Posted October 7, 2014 Posted October 7, 2014 Why would anyone get caught up in the fake standings, a.k.a., "power rankings", when you can get caught up in the real standings? Like, you know, the ones that actually count and matter? Like Norm said, it's the lack of respect.

fridge Posted October 8, 2014 Posted October 8, 2014 1st in the division (my favorite power ranking of them all).
truth on hold Posted October 8, 2014 Posted October 8, 2014 1st in the division (my favorite power ranking of them all). True. But still be interested in the math behind NFL.Com's that ranks us behind all 3 teams we beat, 2 in their building, none with a better record record than us and one with a losing record. Thats ridiculous.
FLFan Posted October 8, 2014 Posted October 8, 2014 http://www.nfl.com/n...s-hit-no-1-spot Bills 17th, lowest rated team with winning record and behind all 3 teams we've beaten, none of whom have a better record ... hmmmmm They actually have the Bills at 22, 5 spots behind the Dolphins. Probably the worst I have seen so far. Not that it matters - I just find it funny.
BillsFan-4-Ever Posted October 8, 2014 Posted October 8, 2014 You have to remember the PR are nothing more than the mediots and their shippy opinions. W/L record, then SOS is how they should be calculated.
Dorkington Posted October 8, 2014 Posted October 8, 2014 (edited) The Bills are one of eight teams with a winning record, and a strength of schedule of .500 or greater. I think that's pretty cool. Arizona, San Francisco, Seattle, Detroit, NY Giants, Denver, Baltimore, and Buffalo --- Oh, and we're one of 6 teams with a strength of victory of .500 or greater. It's because offense gets the press. If the Bills had one of the best offenses in the league they'd get respect but because it's the D then they're "lucky" to win.

Remind me again... other than Gino, what are the other 2013 QB's doing?
Big C Posted October 8, 2014 Posted October 8, 2014 or If the Bills had one of the better QB prospects .. Remind me again... other than Gino, what are the other 2013 QB's doing? Glennon is starting for the Bucs again after McCown got hurt. He's been mostly efficient in his two starts.
DisplacedBillsFan Posted October 14, 2014 Posted October 14, 2014 (edited) I know many feel power rankings are worthless, and while I do not always agree with the skewed representation of the perception of the best teams in the league, I do believe they serve a purpose. Taking bias out of the equation and trying to eliminate feeling slighted by the ranking of the home town team can be difficult. That being said, power rankings are usually fairly representative of how teams currently stand around the league. So, for what it's worth, based on this week's ESPN PRs; We've beat 13, 16, and 23 We've lost to 2, 10, and 19 Edited October 14, 2014 by DisplacedBillsFan

So, for what it's worth, based on this week's ESPN PRs; We've beat 13, 16, and 23 We've lost to 2, 10, and 19 That clearly makes us the 24th best team in the NFL. We are usually a spot or two behind the lowest ranked opponent that we won against.
DisplacedBillsFan Posted October 15, 2014 Posted October 15, 2014 That clearly makes us the 24th best team in the NFL. We are usually a spot or two behind the lowest ranked opponent that we won against. Ha! True. Currently 21st though.
26CornerBlitz Posted October 21, 2014 Posted October 21, 2014 Bills improve to 16th in Power Rankings Ugly win or not, our ESPN.com NFL experts were kind to the Buffalo Bills this week. After a come-from-behind win at home over the Minnesota Vikings (2-5), the Bills improved from No. 21 to No. 16 in our weekly ESPN NFL Power Rankings.
BillsFan-4-Ever Posted October 21, 2014 Posted October 21, 2014 Bills improve to 16th in Power Rankings isnt that where they were before the Putz loss?
26CornerBlitz Posted October 22, 2014 Posted October 22, 2014 Cowboys close in on No. 1 Did the Dallas Cowboys claim the top spot in Elliot Harrison's NFL Power Rankings after a strong home win? Or were the Denver Broncos able to hang on? Check out the updated league hierarchy
PromoTheRobot Posted October 22, 2014 Posted October 22, 2014 16 is fair. Actually think Dolphins (17) are slightly ahead of us right now.
PearlHowardman Posted October 22, 2014 Posted October 22, 2014 I'm a co-worker of David Harper - he played "Jim-Bob" on the television series "The Waltons". He's a SD fan and uses the Power Rankings as a sort of list of AFC and NFC playoff contenders. Right now the Bills are the 9th highest ranked AFC team. And only the top six make the playoffs.

Well, now I know we have no chance.
