billsfan89 Posted September 15, 2014 Posted September 15, 2014 For Henderson specifically it was less about recognizing his talent (which every team was aware of) and more about willingness to take a risk on him due to off the field concerns (if you consider a flyer on a 7th rounder a big risk) The guys was said to have first two round talent but was a huge question mark off the field. My only question was how did the guy last til the 7th round if that was true? I mean Aaron Hernandez was drafted in the 4th round with a similar scouting report. Makes me think that the Aaron Hernandez situation has scared off a lot of teams from taking these types of on field talent off field headache players. I would really like to see Cyrus kicked into guard. If he can hit at guard the O-line has a 4-5 year window to be stellar. Brown has played 100% of snaps through two weeks. Spikes got 15 snaps yesterday. I love Spikes but I don't see a big offer in his future. If Spikes is willing to be a running down specialist I could see him having a nice role on this team. But I am not sure that after this season (When the team will have Kiko coming back) if he is going to want to stay with a team that will only be using him as a prominent role player. I think the Bills would offer him solid money (2.5ish million a year) for multiple years to do that role. But another team with a huge need at LB might offer him more.

Which is interesting regarding his snap count, b/c I thought Spikes was a beast last week and was surprised when I kept looking for his number but didn't see him on the field...this explains why I didn't see him of course, but doesn't explain why he played so little...and just like with Robert Woods not getting a lot of catches, I wouldn't look at Spikes' absence as anything more than a game-plan...IMO of course
jahnyc Posted September 15, 2014 Posted September 15, 2014 Graham has been a great pick-up at a decent price in free agency.
Big C Posted September 15, 2014 Posted September 15, 2014 Kiko may have to earn his starting job back the way Preston Brown is playing. Isn't Bradham the WLB?

BigBuff423 Posted September 15, 2014 Posted September 15, 2014 They stopped running the ball for the most part...which is why Spikes is here If that's the reason, fair enough....I have no issue with how the game was called on any of the fronts, just wondered why...issue with Red Zone productivity is a concern, but they won and ultimately put points on the board, so for now as the Offense grows and gets better, I can live with it - not that I have any choice - but hope the Red Zone efficiency improves.
TC in St. Louis Posted September 15, 2014 Posted September 15, 2014 Seantrel was the Offensive Player of the Year in high school, and was the top recruit that year. He clearly has the talent, but he had some issues. He appears to have overcome those issues.
Nanker Posted September 15, 2014 Posted September 15, 2014 Kiko may have to earn his starting job back the way Preston Brown is playing. Heretic!
CardinalScotts Posted September 15, 2014 Posted September 15, 2014 he has assembled a good roster the guy knows what he's doing
Max997 Posted September 15, 2014 Posted September 15, 2014 He gave up that sack to WIllie Young of the Bears and I was concerned going into yesterdays game against Cameron Wake...... Then you never heard Wake's name the whole game Then Willie Young comes out and destroys the RT he is playing against last night on Sunday Night Football Doug Whaley needs to take a bow on this one.......he might have gotten the BEST OFFENSIVE TACKLE IN THE DRAFT with a 7th round pick....... That is some fine GM work there give Whaley the credit for making the pick but the area scout gets most of the credit as well...cant remember his name but there was an article about Whaley talking about scouting where they mentioned the scouts name
bigK14094 Posted September 15, 2014 Posted September 15, 2014 So far so good on the Henderson pick. It remains to be seen if Henderson can stay clear of the weed and other distractions. He can make a ton of money if he can....that is a sobering influence on some people (it would be on me) whaley, then, made the gutsy call, and is looking goooood at this point. But, time will tell.
WhitewalkerInPhilly Posted September 15, 2014 Posted September 15, 2014 I've said it before, Doug Whaley is our best shot at returning to glory. Many wanted to crap on him for the Byrd situation, however that's why he gets paid to put together a team an they don't. let's do a quick rundown on whaley's offseason moves this week. -byrd was part of a saints defense that has looked god awful. -corey graham had a beast of a day for the second week in a row. -dixon had a blocked punt -spikes helped shut down forte last week, and i believe he helped shut down miller fter moreno went out. -his first pick the one people, myself included, said he traded too much for had over 100 yards and a touchdown -preston brown had 12 tackles -randall johnson recovered the blocked punt -henderson, a 7th round pick rookie, outplayed a probowler -and my favorite, hughes was a constant presence and had a sack, while the man whaley traded him for couldn't crack the battered miami staring roster and is only noted for whiffing on cj's return. so far, well done whaley
Nick the Greek Posted September 15, 2014 Posted September 15, 2014 What about Kounjio? That's starting to look like a massive whiff
Hazed and Amuzed Posted September 15, 2014 Posted September 15, 2014 What about Kounjio? That's starting to look like a massive whiff So?
Nick the Greek Posted September 15, 2014 Posted September 15, 2014 So? don't get me wrong, I'm thrilled about how's Henderson is working out. However, to miss on a 2nd round pick is huge. No one seems to remember.. Or maybe he will end up being great.
PromoTheRobot Posted September 15, 2014 Posted September 15, 2014 (edited) don't get me wrong, I'm thrilled about how's Henderson is working out. However, to miss on a 2nd round pick is huge. Well Pegula will just have to fire the front office and cut the entire team, won't he? When you get a minute show me a team that has consistently started every player it drafted in the first two rounds. I'll wait. Edited September 15, 2014 by PromoTheRobot
Max997 Posted September 15, 2014 Posted September 15, 2014 What about Kounjio? That's starting to look like a massive whiff why? Henderson is clearly the better player at this point but way too early to say they whiffed on anyone especially a backup who hasnt seen the field yet in a real game i dont know why they wouldnt try Kounjio at guard though with his strongsuit being run blocking
Jerry Jabber Posted September 15, 2014 Posted September 15, 2014 Still early on Kouandijo, but it doesn’t look good for him at Tackle. IMO, Marrone should have him tryout as a Guard.
ricojes Posted September 15, 2014 Posted September 15, 2014 What about Kounjio? That's starting to look like a massive whiff 2 games in, might be a little early to declare him a bust...Maybin didn't prove to be a bust until at least the 3rd game...
