Storm Front Posted September 11, 2014 Posted September 11, 2014 I was wondering if the Bills really intend to play Kiko Alonso this season. Is part of the reason they have not IR'd him because some other team could claim him during the season and put him on their active roster once he is ok to play? Or, is there a rule that states an opposing team cannot do something so shady?
FluffHead Posted September 11, 2014 Posted September 11, 2014 The only reason not to put him on IR is holding out hope he can play. There is also some contract mumbo jumbo that could affect Alonso as it pertains to accrued seasons but I can't exactly remember the specifics.
BillsFan-4-Ever Posted September 11, 2014 Posted September 11, 2014 (edited) the Bills have numerous options. One option is to list him with specific classification to where he won't get paid. http://espn.go.com/b...nso-on-nfi-list Edited September 11, 2014 by BillsFan-4-Ever
Miyagi-Do Karate Posted September 11, 2014 Posted September 11, 2014 I thought the Bills tried to IR him, but then Kiko ended up breaking the IR list.
Nanker Posted September 11, 2014 Posted September 11, 2014 Well it's clear that he is not injured. I saw a healthy Kiko doing a Campbell's Soup commercial just last week right here on TSW.

Captain Caveman Posted September 11, 2014 Posted September 11, 2014 He is on non-football injury list, which is basically the same as IR except that if he doesn't play he won't get a year of credited service (and he will be a restricted free agent when his contract is up.)

BillsFan-4-Ever Posted September 11, 2014 Posted September 11, 2014 he needed to loosen up a bit and not read "word for word" off the teleprompter.
Bob Malooga Posted September 11, 2014 Posted September 11, 2014 (edited) NSFW (because you will laugh so hard everyone will know you aren't working) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eDPKpfrfSTs Anybody else think that Nigel was possibly picking up and/or delivering that weed to Kiko last year? Other teams can claim players off IR? Only if they are waived with the designated "waived-injured" label, or whatever. Here you go, this should help a little bit... http://www.nationalfootballpost.com/Injured-Reserve-rules-need-an-overhaul.html Waived/Injured: When a team waives an injured player any other team may claim him. If a player clears waivers the player is immediately reverted to IR or the team will negotiate an injury settlement to allow the player to pursue other opportunities with another club. That is NOT happening with Kiko Alonso, for any reason...so, no need to worry about that. One reason IR rules became so rigid over the years is that teams like the Raiders and Redskins in the 80’s used it to hide young talent. This is what the 49ers do with a lot of young players...Skov, Lattimore, Thomas, Acker, Reaser, etc. Edited September 11, 2014 by Bob Malooga
Chandler#81 Posted September 11, 2014 Posted September 11, 2014 Other teams can claim players off IR? How do you think we got Jack Kemp?

Kipers Hair Posted September 11, 2014 Posted September 11, 2014 It's not possible for the LegendofKikoAlonso to be placed on the IR...he cant be injured. In the spirit of fairness, he is taking a year off to let O Coordinators plan for him.
Kelly the Dog Posted September 11, 2014 Posted September 11, 2014 That video totally disproves the "it's not who you know it's who you blow" casting couch myth, that kid can act!!
