Utah John Posted September 10, 2014 Posted September 10, 2014 I get the strong feeling that Senator Schumer intervened in the entire process of the Bills sale to ensure they would not be moved away from NYS. That isn't an issue with the Pegulas, who have turned into WNY's Easter Bunny, Santa Claus, and Tooth Fairy all rolled into two. But even the Bon Jovi crew was reported to be willing to sign an affidavit saying they wouldn't move the team. The only reason I can think of for that is league pressure, making it clear the team couldn't be moved, and the only reason I can think of for that is political pressure.
PastaJoe Posted September 10, 2014 Posted September 10, 2014 I think he reminded the NFL that if the only team in New York State moved, Congress might need to look into their practices and the laws that benefit the league. A shot across their bow.
DirtDart Posted September 10, 2014 Posted September 10, 2014 He seems to have been heavily involved. Some may say because it's an election year, my take is he did it out of his desire to keep the team here, not out of political gain.

Really? How about the extremely restrictive lease that Ralph signed?
Over 29 years of fanhood Posted September 10, 2014 Posted September 10, 2014 Sit tight. After ownership approval I believe more facts will come to light.
Captain Hindsight Posted September 10, 2014 Posted September 10, 2014 Really? How about the extremely restrictive lease that Ralph signed? That lease was genius and amazing timing. Schumer and Cuomo and Polcarez paid 130 million to keep the team here indefinitely. I think most would agree that was a great investment
Gugny Posted September 10, 2014 Posted September 10, 2014 With $20 million in yearly state tax revenue at stake, I'm certain Schumer was heavily involved. I like Chuck Schumer, but there's not too many bigger media whores. He'll tell us how involved he was, eventually.
Formerly Allan in MD Posted September 10, 2014 Posted September 10, 2014 It's interesting that Schumer is always at the annual Buffalo Nite on Capitol Hill in DC. It just happens to be next week. He'll be somewhat of a star unless the Pugulas show up.

Exactly, he certainly won't miss the opportunity to fill us in after all the I's are dotted. First good thing I believe he has ever done for this state. I hate having to give him credit, but I must when it's due.
