Why don't one of you take JMora under your wing and be his guide for the weekend? He's coming from freakin' Mexico City (Distrito Federal) for heavens sake, so let's assume that renting a car at the airport, getting downtown to a hotel then trying to negotiate his way to the Ralph for the game might all prove to be at least a little bit confusing. And advice like "stay downtown," "Hammer's Lot," et al, though well-intentioned, are probably useless. Considering he'll probably get in late Saturday, I think his best bet would be a motel closer to the stadium, like the ones in Hamburg. Or if one of you has a spare bedroom...Hey, Hands Across The Border and all that. Maybe one of you can give him your cell number so he can make contact in case of a jam-up. Heck, Scott Sarama might want to connect with him and do a story for TBD.

And before anyone get's on me for not doing any of those things I'm suggesting, well, he's welcome to stay here in LA and watch the game with me at the local pub.

I'll offer whatever help/advice I can, which unfortunately may be limited given that I'm occupado on Saturday night.

That being said, why don't we help him come up with a basic iternerary? Not telling him what to do per se, but maybe help with where to go, estimated times, costs, stuff like that.

For example, JMora, do you want to stay downtown or near the stadium? Downtown will offer more to do Saturday night, but you might find it easier to stay near the Ralph to ease your commute in the morning. Plus, if you stay near the stadium you can party at the Big Tree (mentioned by Andre in his HoF speech).

The more we know in terms of stuff like that, the better advice we could collectively offer.

I would love to take you under my wing but, this may be the first game in 21 years that I miss the opener. We have done this with other fans from all over.

Most people will welcome you to their tailgate, esp. if you bring beer. Bye the beer on Saturday, however, because stores will not be selling beer by the time you will want to be at the Stadium.

Get to the stadium early, as early as you can. You should also check out the Field House, it has some cool pre-game activities.

Also, try to hit up Duff's restaurant when you are in the area. Best wings in the City. Eat Beef on Weck at the game.

Enjoy!

Thanks Ryan, will do all of those! Already reserved a spot at Hammer's Lot and will be bringing beer and some food.

We'll be there at 8am, hope that's early enough!

Will definitely go to Duff's, too. Best wings in Buffalo? That should be legendary.

You can buy beer Sunday mornings now, so that shouldn't be an issue. Tequila on the other hand.....

That's awesome that this will be your first home game, it's going to be rocking! Airport to downtown Buffalo is 10-15 minutes, very close. You can rent a car right at the airport, check the buffalo/niagara airport website. Downtown to OP will probably be 20 minutes with traffic, 30 at the most. Tailgating is great in Buffalo, just wear your Bills colors and you'll be welcomed with open arms....

The Hyatt, Hampton Inn, or Embassy Suites would be the best places to stay downtown. But there are other options as well...

Have Fun!!! GO BILLS!!!!

rico, thanks for the tips. Rented a car in advance and booked our stay at the Hampton at I-90, seems like good value and got a fair deal. Will have as much fun as humanly possible. Thanks!

Safe travels & you have friends in Buffalo & Buffalo Nation across the world. Yell like a crazy loca & enjoy the game.

Thanks Dean! We will yell like pinches locos! (f***ing nutheads) I am pretty sure I'll be hoarse when the game ends. So worth it!

Yungmack, that's very kind of you. I feel very welcome already. I decided not to sit too much on the possibilities and already got our room, very close to the stadium (Hampton's at I-90). I don't want to be a pain in the ass for anyone, just want to be part of the experience and hopefully get to meet and party with as many of you as possible. Will give you a call when I'm in LA during NFL season :)

Now this is a true fan!!! Awesome!!

Thanks JR! It just felt like the right time to make the dream come true!!!

That's a shame Mead, you have been very kind and helpful. But hey, I just know I will love the experience and will get back later this season (hopefully) if there is a game in december with playoff implications. Congratulations on the arrival of your granddaughter!

Your post warms my heart! Hope you have a great time!

And so many replies from all of you guys make mine warm as well. Surely this will be a day to remember the rest of my life!

You inspired me, just bought my game and plane tickets.

That's the spirit, Caveman!!! Hope to see you there!

Enjoy every minute. You'll find fans open and welcoming. Party your arse off but leave the car behind. I would have suggested to taxi your way around town (maybe a little more than your car rental) but avoids the "navigating in a foreign place" problem and any potential problems with having a few beers and driving, which if you're out on the 90, you'll have to drive or have someone sober do it for you! Someone here I am sure would have picked you up and brought you to the game, this is a generally a great group of people here! In any case, have a riot because you've picked a great game to come to and it'll make what you think you know about Bills fans and the tailgate seem understated!!!!

jMORA- I agree. Stay close to orchard park so it is easy for you to get to and from the game. I hope, one of the locals can get youminntheir tailgate party. Downtown is nice, but if you want the buffalo experience make sure you get a mighty taco, some buffalo pizza, real beef on Weck, not the crap at the stadium, absolutely go to the hole in the wall that is the Big Tree which is right by the stadium, Duffs for wings, and throw the ball around with new friends in the parking lots.

I'm flying up for my yearly with my boys for the home opener from Tampa. There is absolutely nothing like a bills game when we have hope. It's as crazy as an Alabama v Auburn game.

You'll find Bills fans and people in Buffalonians are the best. Have a great weekend, and here's to "Kelly's cancer free, El Pegul has our team in check for decades, ad we are about to kick the ars of the Fish this weekend."

Fellow TBDers, I am overloaded with happiness and joy, as surely all of you are, because of the Pegula announcement. We all deserve it and it certainly feels like the greatest feeling in the world. This feels like we just won the Super Bowl (hopefully we'll get the chance to compare those two feelings very soon)!

I am 33 and from Mexico City (lived all my life here). Have been a Bills fan since I was 9, when I bet on Super Bowl 25 with a fellow classmate - the loser had to cut his hair. I had never watched an entire NFL game before that January 1991 day, but since that day (by accident at first, and by love from then on) I have bleed love for our Buffalo Bills.

Watched all four of the SBs and every single regular season game since NFL Sunday Ticket was made available here (1996). Experienced every high and low this franchise had lived in the past two decades, and along the way have read many of you since those days (I remember even visiting a GoBills.com website to get my daily fix of Buffalo Bills news and rumours.

I had always dreamt of being at a game at then Rich, now Ralph Wilson Stadium. However, I was too young (or not economically able enough) to accomplish my dream. Fortunately, that has changed in the recent years. I traveled to Houston in 2012 to catch my first Buffalo Bills live game. Bought first row tickets on the Bills sideline for the game at Reliant - it turned out to be a little sour experience for me and my Bills-converted wife (not just the loss, we were constantly harrassed by local fans and I didn't expect people to spend the entire game screaming insults at our players, not giving our ears a rest for even a minute). However, it was a dream come true and we are ready to go back there for the game in three weeks!!!!

Fast forward to today: with the win at Chicago, the Pegula announcement earlier today, and after listening to many people on WGR, I decided to pull the trigger. Didn't care to overpay for the game tickets, the custom jersey, the last-minute flights... I AM FINALLY GOING TO THE RALPH THIS SUNDAY!!!!!! Section 134 Row 44

I knew I couldn't miss this game. It feels like it will be one of those games etched in Bills history, and I am so excited and privileged to be joining the team and all of the fans to live and experience it.

I would appreciate if you could help me with some tips and pointers so we get to live the best gameday experience of our lives. We are flying Saturday morning and arriving on Saturday night. Other than the game and the plane tickets, I still need to book hotel, car rental and all of that. I don't know how to get to the stadium, if I will be welcomed to tailgate with fellow fans... also, where to hang out after the game... all of that. I have dreamt of being a Buffalo Bills fan at a Buffalo Bills game and it's finally coming true, so I want it to be as true and special as it can get.

Thank you for all your help and hope to see you at The Ralph on Sunday!

Go Bills!

Stop by at 10 Glenn st. and I'll make you some real Buffalo chicken Wings.

Wow...what a fearing awesome post!!!!!Dude I am so psyched you are coming to the game. You are more than welcome at our tailgate behind ECC, feel free to PM me if you need directions. Having said that, we are family group, with just a few young fellas I would no doubt be at Hammers!

I doubt you can get a hotel downtown, but if you can it is an easy drive to stadium and much nicer than most places near the stadium, especially if you want to go out a bit on Saturday night.

Somewhat in the same vein, my 72 year old mother in law is coming to her first Bills game. She has always understood my obsession, and always texts me win or loss after every game......she was the first one who texted me the official yesterday .

She is soooooooo excited, she can't believe she is going to be there on this day..

Don't forget to give us an update after the game; would love to hear all about your experience.

Thanks for adding that. This thread needs to be bumped every few hours until well after the game and JMora has reported back. What a great fan and story. Viva la JMora!!

Hey guys! Writing an update from the airport, about to board our flight to Detroit and then to Buffalo!

Thanks for the invite! Will send you a PM as soon as I arrive in Buffalo.

That's an awesome story. You are so lucky to have a mother in law like that! Hope to meet both of you tomorrow!

MGK, thanks for all the tips and pointers. Already on tap to go to Duffs and Weck, and will be staying relatively close to the stadium (Hampton Inn at I-90 and Ridge Rd).

I know the experience of being tomorrow at the game will be second to none. I love everything about Buffalo and the Buffalonians. And everything came together for this particular opening weeking, so I could not pass on the opportunity.

Here's to a great Buffalo romp of the Dolphins, El Pegula, Kelly cancer free, and more hope for a playoff season!

Bravo JMora, bravo.

Thanks!

Here's a link to a nice little tailgate at a classic Bills tailgate location, Hammers Lot:

Thank you! Have already reserved a spot there. Can't wait!!!

Thanks zonabb. Fortunately I'm going with my wife who will be the designated drivers if I have one beer to many.

I know that Buffalo people are the best. That's exactly the reason that made me get hooked. I liked the team, but once I found about the city, the history, and got the chance to talk/write to some Buffalonians I knew that I am, deep inside, just another Buffalo native that happened to be born outside ;)

Thanks!

If you're in LA later in the season JMora come to Busby's in Santa Monica. We had 200-300 Bills fans last week and probably more this week.

Thanks Kelly! I still don't know if I'll be flying there later in the season. Hopefully I do and get to attend a game at Busby's with you!

Thanks for adding that. This thread needs to be bumped every few hours until well after the game and JMora has reported back. What a great fan and story. Viva la JMora!!

Sure! Will be reporting back here every time I get the opportunity :)
