Gasjuggler Posted September 9, 2014 Posted September 9, 2014 Is the league going to look at Conti's helmet to helmet contact on woods great catch and did Marrone ever get a explanation why the refs picked up the offensive holding flag on the Bears?
eSJayDee Posted September 9, 2014 Posted September 9, 2014 Along similar lines, I wondered why "hitting defenseless player" wasn't called on Williams airborne catch. Personally, I hate the rule - what are you s'posed to do, let him catch it, but it is the rule now.

That wasn't the case IIRC.
quinnearlysghost88 Posted September 9, 2014 Posted September 9, 2014 Conti was hitting like an as&h*le all game long. He deserved what he got in OT.
YoloinOhio Posted September 12, 2014 Posted September 12, 2014 Ian Rapoport @RapSheet 32s #Bears S Chris Conte was fined $22,050 for helmet-to-helmet contact with a defenseless player.
YoloinOhio Posted September 12, 2014 Posted September 12, 2014 I wonder if the Bears fined him too for being a defenseless player.

todd Posted September 12, 2014 Posted September 12, 2014 Who cares about the fine? That is pocket change to those guys. I'm more concerned that the damn refs don't throw the flag, giving the other team a very real and specific advantage.
Dragonborn10 Posted September 12, 2014 Posted September 12, 2014 Williams hit in OT was legal and evidence of new rules. Two years ago Williams would have been killed on that catch. He is lucky the defensive player went for midsection and not a knee. Woods play was bang bang and I can see how ref didn't see it. It probably will get a fine as it looked like he was leading with the head a bit. But if it was A. Williams we would be arguing it was a glancing blow and not intentional.
DC Tom Posted September 12, 2014 Posted September 12, 2014 No. There were two helmet-to-helmet hits in last night's game that weren't called. I don't think the league's paying much attention any more.
PO'14 Posted September 12, 2014 Posted September 12, 2014 Fine should have been given to EJ for throwing like Fitz. Williams as well got lucky not being hurt earlier in the game with extremely high throws.

And "throwing it up and letting the receiver go up and come down with it," was never employed by any good quarterbacks.

Game 1 of season and Woods almost got a huge concussion trying to pull down a really high pass. Guess what Gug, if that pass was a foot lower, he still catches it! However if it was an inch higher, he never completes it. Go see the replay. Woods catches that pass less than 50% of the time. Just wait when the cold weather comes around. Had he been concussed, everyone is pissed at EJ. But since nothing happened, most consider it a perfect pass! Edited September 12, 2014 by PO'14
