Fan in Chicago Posted September 9, 2014 Posted September 9, 2014 http://espn.go.com/c...ter-team-a-shot I don't know if I should be happy that Wilbon is ragging on Cutler or be mad at the basic premise of the article. The angle is that the Bills are a lowly team, a doormat of the NFL - how dare you lose to a team such as the Bills ? While much of that belief and image is true due to the recent history, a reporter and writer needs to tone down the rhetoric particularly in the beginning of the season when teams are sometimes quite different from those in the previous seasons.

I hear you but I don't think Wilbon meant it that way - he's a good reporter, his angle was from the Bears' perspective. I can't believe Cutler threw that pass on 3rd and 1, with the Bears at the 34 ready for the go-ahead field goal. It boggles my mind. And then he went off on the media. That dude is the definition of a coach killer - he is just good enough to get his coach fired.

I was getting annoyed due to some quotes like: "Twenty points .... is about a half-day's work against a team like the Bills, who major in going 6-10." "And against the Buffalos of the world -- and there simply aren't many patsies on the Bears schedule ....."
MDH Posted September 9, 2014 Posted September 9, 2014 I was getting annoyed due to some quotes like: "Twenty points .... is about a half-day's work against a team like the Bills, who major in going 6-10." "And against the Buffalos of the world -- and there simply aren't many patsies on the Bears schedule ....." People (yes, this includes sports writers) just discount the Bills because of their decade+ of futility. If they bothered looking at the roster they'd understand that the Bills have all kinds of talent. With the talent on the Bills' D it really isn't much of a surprise that the Bears struggled to score a lot. Keep winning and the Bills will get that recognition.
Dorkington Posted September 9, 2014 Posted September 9, 2014 Every comment stream I see basically throws the Bills under the table. "OMG ALLEN SUCKS, WHERE WAS HE?!?!?!? THE BILLS SUCK, CMON!" (ignoring that Glenn is a great LT) "OMG CUTLER SUCKS, THE BILLS SUCK, CMON!" (ignoring the fact that we rushed mostly 4 or 5 all day, and have one of the better DLs in the league) "OMG THE RUN D SUCKS, THE BILLS SUCK, CMON!" (ignoring the fact that we have one of the better running offenses in the league) http://espn.go.com/c...ter-team-a-shot This quote: "the defense made C.J. look like O.J." Makes me think the author didn't actually watch the game. CJ was largely contained for most of the game. The big yard numbers came on the back of Fred's 38 yarder, and Boobie's 46(?) yarder.
bowery4 Posted September 9, 2014 Posted September 9, 2014 Hey Bills fans, just wanted to congratulate you guys on that win. You guys deserved it more than we did. Also, you guys overcame the refs, which was impressive. It seemed as if you guys were getting penalized way more than us, so nice job overcoming that. Coming into Chicago and winning is always tough. EJ Manuel impressed the heck out of me, and a lot of other Bears fans. With the Patriots not looking very sharp yesterday, I think you guys have a real shot at winning the division. Good luck in 2014. Thanks for dropping by...looks like a tough stretch of games ahead for Chicago, but they've got a very good offense and shouldn't be out of any games this year. Good luck the rest of the way. This^ Thanks that was cool of you. Best to your Bears this year. That was an entertaining game, you guys were close. You have some real stars and if JC can get the time he needs, watch out, hope you Oline guys heal up too but I was impressed with the depth for the most part.
