I think Mare would be a great addition. He hammers the ball into the end zone almost every time and when the game is on the line, there are only a couple of kickers better. I forget what week it was, but the dude couldn't make a EP. Then he nail a 30-some yarder... I think it might have been their WR (KO return specialist), Wes Welker... Now I do remember...ah well if he seriously is damaged goods and his career is over, :I starred in Brokeback Mountain: that trade. I'm still content with drafting Nugent with our 2nd pick, just because I seriously think upgrading our kicker should be a huge priority this offseason. Getting more O-Line depth is of course vital to this team, but if we can get a weapon at kicker instead of a liability, then we wont have to plan our offense around Lindell's crappy kicking any longer and just let Nugent boot 40+ yarders without hesitation. Ray Posted January 27, 2005 Share Posted January 27, 2005 I agree this could be the year to draft a kicker--and with a high pick. We can draft for depth as well and address a coule needs in FA. Work at re-signing JJ, P Williams, and getting Nate Clements signed to a long term deal. Should be able to do that by re-structuring Moulds and cutting or cutting pay of Bledsoe. Cant see them using their 3rd round pick, which would be the second pick of that round I believe, on a place kicker, especially considering they have a lot of other holes to fill and no second round pick. I agree Nugent would be a great pickup for us, even if we have to trade up in the 3rd to get him (unless we get an early- mid 3rd from a Henry trade). You kind of expect your top 2 picks to be every down players, not to mention there must be a somewhat decent $ difference between 2nd round and 3rd round contracts. Look at OSU's record with Nugent, then look at how many game-winners he made, then look at how many potential game-winners he missed.
