One day it'll be discovered that Mr. Pears has nude photos of the front office and that's why he's still playing for this team.

He was once a solid RT.

You don't think it possible that he can perhaps become a solid guard?

I think it's entirely possible. He sure didn't look good vs TB, but you'd think he will require some time to adjust.

Gerald McCoy and the TB front can make any OG in the NFL look bad.

He was also going up against Gerald McCoy who is a maneater.

I think he can be slighty better than Urbik at RG. And slightly better, is, well, slightly better, which makes us a slightly better team. And if you combine that with Henderson possibly being a substantial upgrade from Pears at RT, that could make us a substantially better team.

It's certainly possible, with today's technology and medicine I'm sure there's a way to surgically implant a heart, quicker feet, better hands and a bigger brain into the meatsack Pears is currently occupying. With those added elements, the sky is the limit for Mr. Pears.

Good stuff.

I hope that means he gets paid. Don't upset the Kiko!

I don't believe he does from what I remember. It also means this year doesn't count against his eligibility.

He gets fully paid while on IR as opposed to being on the non-football injury list where he would not. All is good.

That sucks. You're told to stay in shape and be ready for training camp but if you get injured while training for football it's a non football injury?

Right. You said it more clearly. Judging by the post it didn't specify if he was on IR or NFI, just Reserve/NFI list. I just recalled this article which is why I thought they would call it a NFI http://profootballta...onso-in-theory/

If he was on the NFI list, the bills would still have the option/choice of paying him or not though.

I was wrong about this, here's the real story:

On Tuesday he was moved to the Reserve/Non-football injury list.

The designation means he no longer counts toward the team’s roster total, and it’s expected he won’t suit up this season. Alonso tore his ACL during an offseason workout on July 1st and had successful surgery a couple of weeks later.

Being on Reserve/NFL means anywhere between the end of Week 6 (Oct. 14th) and the end of Week 11 (Nov. 18th) that Alonso, if cleared to do so, could begin practicing with the team. His first day of practice would kick start a 21-day evaluation period where the team could determine whether he would be fit to return to the active roster or being placed on season-ending Reserve/NFL.

For both the PUP and the NFI lists, "active" designates a player who counts against the NFL roster limits, "Reserve" designates a player who doesn't count against a roster limit, be it the 90-man, 75-man, or the 53-man limit. However, regardless of active/reserve status, all players on PUP and NFI (and on injured reserve) count against a team's salary cap during the season

One key difference between NFI and PUP lists is that teams can withhold parts of the salary of players on NFI. This largely punitive and seldom-used option is available when a team feels it is not responsible for injuries suffered by players on their own time, but it is not as easy to implement as it may sound.

I know Pears is declining but I like him at G, he's a mauler and seams to have a bit of a mean streak.

He definitely has a mean streak, and I'm not ruling out that he could become a suitable RG for this squad (as much shade as I throw at him, Pears is still a professional athlete... somehow). If he does, it's a big win for the team and I'll shut up about him.

...But I hope you have something to replace the hole in my heart.

Are there any punters in the league that do kickoffs as well? Seems like a natural fit from an ignorant fan's perspective...

If they do long snapping that would be great too!....Oh wait.

I absolutely think they are looking to bring in a veteran to back up EJ....

Christian Ponder? THe starting QB position is decided on that team

I would hope Seattle does the wrong thing and releases Tyrone Pryor (sp? too lazy to look it up). Just hoping...I never seem to get what I hope for Bills related though. I am kind of imagining that they wait until the second week of the season though cause I read on here the trust is cheap.
