As much as I would like the Bills to have a clear cut star at QB, I think the worst situation for QB in the NFL is starting to look like the expensive mediocre veteran.

Sam Bradford, Tony Romo, Jay Cutler, Joe Flacco chew up lots of cap space, which hurts the rest of the team. Dalton and Kaepernick now have big contracts. It will be interesting to see of the Bengals and niners can adapt to those big salaries, or if either of those QBs can elevate to star status.

Tom Brady hasn't won a Trophy in a few years.

Well the Pats have made the playoffs 14 years running and have won a lot of playoff games, so I find it twisted to use them as a example of a system failing. Also Brady's contract is a lot less expensive to the Pats, than Rodgers, Brees, and P. Manning. He definitely takes a discount, so he really is not at all example of a QB situation who kills a teams chances of making the playoffs.

I would like to have one of those mediocre type vet QBs holding the clipboard however

Well if a team paid their current salaries to hold a clip board, it is not likely they would have the money to put together a great team around the non-clipboard holding starting QB.

Didn't Flaco get a SB ring, and win MVP of the game, as recently as two years ago? How does he make your list?

I think the list demonstrates that the QB doesn't win games---well, there are a few where the QB does a lot to win the game, but they aren't credited with wins and losses the way baseball pitchers are. But having a great QB makes a big difference if the team around him is good.

I do think it is a bit crazy how much these QBs get paid; to the detriment of the rest of the team. But it does kinda prove that if you have a QB - you have a team.

Kaep is not currently worth his contract. Time will tell if he developes into that type of player. I understand the need to keep strength at that position, but thanks to this contract, QB pay will be artificially inflated, if they already aren't. It will be interesting to see Luck's deal next year.

I was under the impression Kaepernick had a very team friendly contract, the way it is structured.

I am not familiar with the structure. It may be incentive laden, which would be good. Otherwise he is making 19 mil

On the bright side, we did not trade Fort Knox for RGIII. Instead, we traded down and got Kiko as well.

This past draft's trade may nullify that. If the pick ends up being a top or near top pick, this board may implode.

It is a bit of a crap shoot when it comes to a franchise QB. I still think that the jury is still out on EJ. I had hoped to see more development, but I am not ready to give up on him. He has not even played 16 regular season games yet. It may be the toughest position in team sports. It takes time to read what NFL defensive coordinators throw at these guys. Unlike other QBs, EJ has not had the luxury to transition to the NFL game. The good news is that he seems to handle the pressure of the fans and expectations well.

At this point, with our running game and defense, we just need him to be a middle of the road to better QB and not make mistakes that cost us games - while at the same time develop into the kind of QB that we would like to see him become.

As far as his upside is concerned, I do not see him ever becoming a Tom Brady or Peyton Manning. Under the right circumstances and with some luck (no pun intended), I would like to see him become a Big Ben type of QB (without the off field issues). That is within the realm of possiblity, but there is a long road between where he is now and Big Ben.
