New York Farm Owners Fined For Refusing To Host Gay Marriage

I'm no lawyer, but this was pretty easy to find...specifically N.Y. EXC. LAW 296.2(a)

http://codes.lp.find...code/EXC/15/296

Timely post about non-existent laws, dumbass! :D

Friggin morons...next time do your own research. I should be charging for the education you mouth-breathers are receiving here. lol

All in good fun of course! :)

You have a reading comprehension problem. Discriminating against people because of their sexual orientation is different than not hosting and participating in a marriage ceremony. I also didn't see anywhere in that law where a person can't discriminate against who sleeps in their bed.

Now as far as charging us for an education in this matter we could just as easily file suit against you for poor performance.

I'll make it simple for you:

1. Christian farmers own a place of public accommodation.

2. Christian farmers allow customers to hold wedding ceremonies at said place of public accommodation.

3. Christian farmers allow customers to sleep in their bed at said place of public accommodation.

4. Christian farmers wish to discriminate against some customers by preventing them from holding wedding ceremonies or sleeping in their bed at said place of public accommodation because of said customers' sexual orientation.

5. Christian farmers have violated N.Y. EXC. LAW 296.2(a), are found guilty and are made to pay $13,000.

6. Christian righties at PPP get their panties in a wad because they don't like the law.

Y'know, I enjoy posting here during the day, but the idea of doing it on a freaking phone makes no sense to me.

My experiences with it are more in text form -- I try not to post much from any mobile device simply because it's too frustrating. The text f-ups because of fat fingers+small screen are usually far more humiliating and ultimately more entertaining though.

Once I found the way speak my texts, I gave up trying to type on the damn thing for good.

I'll never understand the broken mindset in which someone else's desire to use my property as they see fit trumps my own right to use my own property as I see fit.

In this case it's more like 'utilize all of the services your business provides' because you're doing business in NYS.

You may discriminate all you like if you're not running a public business of course. It makes you kind of a huge a-hole, but that's merely subjective and it's well within your rights.

Your right to a gay marriage ceremony should not trump the constitutionally protected right to free exercise of religion.

The "patrons" in question had, I'm sure, plenty of choices for locations to hold their ceremony. That they decided to call this place, record the call, and then report their situation to the "proper authorities" speaks volumes about how this all came about. The free enterprise system works both ways. There are plenty of people at my workplace who will not patronize Chick-Fil-A . . .Choices, freedom, etc . . .that's what it's about. Not a fascist-style drumbeat to which we all must march.

That's the part that you don't get.

If you pay property taxes you are not an owner you are a tenant renting- if you were an owner they could merely deny services for refusal to pay property taxes not take the property.

What if I (a non-believer) refused to accommodate them. Would be spending as much time and effort? Probably not.

I'm going to assume that you mis-typed something, and instead of responding, I will simply ask for clarification.

in the first half of your post, are you saying that because someone pays property tax, that they are not owners of that property, but merely renting it?

could you please explain the second half of your post? I'm not getting anything.....

While I don't dispute he has a reading comprehension problem, 2(a) in his link is written in such a way that he's right.

But 2(a) was written SO poorly, that he can only be right accidentally. Ye Gods, what a train wreck of a sentence.

Explain the second half? The whole "property taxes mean you're renting" made sense to you?

ignoring the irony in having to clarify my own post, please note that I addressed his first statement with a question beginning with 'in the first half of your post....'

so no, absolutely none of it made a damn bit of sense to me.

Lyrbob knows very little about real estate. I've been waiting years for him to tell me what expertise he has in the real estate and mortgage industries. I questioned him after he posted some rather inane statements with one of them having a glaring error that proved that he had no knowledge. He also posts stuff with no links making it difficult to check his "facts".

The second half of his post was predicated on the first half. It couldn't possibly make any sense without the first half being explained.

(Aside from the second half being grammatically unparseable, that is.)

He knows "banks" are "evil" because...

...well...

...because! So there!
