BUFFALOKIE Posted August 23, 2014 Posted August 23, 2014 I found her on America's Got Howard. Pff. I'm more hip then you are Well, I would claim the reverse. I found her FIRST dagnabbit, without a major television network!!! Was she good on the show?
The Dean Posted August 23, 2014 Posted August 23, 2014 Flagler College Radio (WFCF on I heart radio) is about the only radio station I listen to, except for Performance Today on NPR. I hear some new jazz on their weekday jazz show (3-7 PM), and sometimes new acoustic/bluegrass on their weekend bluegrass show. I believe I discovered the Carolina Chocolate Drops on that show. Tonight I heard some decent' classical music written in 2013 by Ofer Ben-Amots on Performance Today, which is a great show (gotta love the piano puzzler). Mostly I rely on friends with whom I share similar musical tastes, as they rely on me. Much of what is new to me is in fact very old, be it classical music from another era or jazz from the 30's, 40's, etc. I also frequent a Steely Dan forum and, as you might expect, many of those fans have rather sophisticated musical tastes. Music that transcends genre and is a combination of complex chords, intricate chord and time changes and subversive and bizarre lyrics creates a pretty unique fan base with some interesting musical tastes. More often than not I don't like the recommendations from most posters because--well most music (like most movies, and most art) kind of sucks. But I was lucky enough to be turned on to a great musical collaboration that goes by the name of Snarky Puppy--from Texas of all places.

Thank God for the internet - if I could only listen to broadcast radio here, I'd rather listen to the voices in my head
Azalin Posted August 23, 2014 Posted August 23, 2014 What do you think of Lindsay Sterling? https://www.google.c...zcvm7phzpev1_QQ I found her on Pandora. she's good.....real good. with music like this, I appreciate the skill & talent, but I don't particularly care for the modern bent to the music. for music that features a violin soloist, this is what I like (in fact this is one of my favorites): Sarah Chang, featured soloist, Paganinni's concerto no 1 (her part begins at 2:04)
The Dean Posted August 23, 2014 Posted August 23, 2014 I found some cool banjo metal, and some rockin school kids covering Tool, in one of the "best of remakes" here on OTW. What do you think of Lindsay Sterling? https://www.google.c...zcvm7phzpev1_QQ I found her on Pandora. The music isn't too bad. The video, on the other hand, is horrendous.

I think the jocks still play/program their own music?
