Da'Rick watch 2014

Recommended Posts

I'm not sure that I am following the logic when 1 guy has made plays at the NFL level and one hasn't?

You have to throw this preseason into the mix as well. If Colts didn't suffer the rash of injuries, Da'Rick wouldn't even see the field. Even though he had his one highlight play, Luck rarely looked in his direction and settled in for the comfort of Griff Whalen. Seems to be the same case this summer.

Andrew Luck targeted Rogers 23 times in 5 games. Not bad when you're behind guys like TY Hilton.

I recall most of those targets were before Griff became a bigger part of the offense. As the season grew on, Da'Rick's looks dropped significantly.

Its a topic that we have been round and round on and is beaten to death. The thing that I find weird as that this thread was started (not by you) to bash a guy that has been more productive than the guy that got that spot. This should be something that irks people. We should be rejoicing when the Bills release guys that go on to flop not guys that make plays.

I agree and I know you're not the type to do that either. But think about why the original thread was started in the first place. Some folks trashed the Bills for the decision and some even posted they wanted to see Rogers succeed to prove the Bills wrong. There are a million threads about how every qb is better than EJ.

Also, there is now a thread bashing SJ. Personally, I think it's tacky as hell. And my whole point with Rogers is he didn't do anything to be on the team and it's not really a big loss. Jmo.

Not really. First five games in terms of targets. 0, 9, 6, 6, 2. Sure, there's a decline, but there's no where near enough data to see if the 2 is an anomaly or downward trend.

Without Reggie Wayne. And the Colts felt so good about Rogers' development, they signed Nicks this offseason.

I completely disagree with you the majority of the time but I do admire your insane loyalty and excuse making for the guys you like. :)

Hogan vs Da'Rick debate.

Really people?

dear god we all love football so much we'll stoop to this. and i almost got suckered in.

sept 7th yet?

You know you want some. :) it's better than Freddy vs. Jason.

That's why it's useful to look at this preseason, and the trend appears to be the same - Griff is getting more looks than Da'Rick. Now, I don't know if it's because they want to evaluate Griff more than Da'Rick, but the stat line is certainly favoring Whalen at this point.

Where did I say anything about Rogers' development? What excuse have I made?

You really should just stop.

I can't find the preseason stats, but I'll assume you're right. Still, with Wayne, Nicks, and Hilton, I think they'd be better off rolling the dice on potential.

He has a 40 plus yard catch in 1 game and a TD in the other this preseason. Point? The reality is at this point Rogers has college production, talent and NFL production both last year and this year in his favor. If you were to do a side by side comparison there wouldn't be many (probably just character) checks in Hogan's favor.

Take your own advice.

And in his second training camp, with a third NFL team, he's still battling for a roster spot. At a certain point all that potential gets placed in the wasted file.

Can someone start a thread that is just Fire Chan and C. Biscuit97 talking football? No one else should even be allowed in there (like a steel cage match). This would be the best thread on this board in a long, long time.

2nd team I believe. The guys around him are productive as has he been. He will certainly be on an NFL roster it's just a matter of which one. He turned in plays when called upon last year and this year in the preseason. I am still not following the point? One guy has been productive when called upon and 1 hasn't. I suppose things could look different a year from now but at the moment they aren't close.

I think that thread would end up with us choking each other out with Johnny Manziel and CJ Spiller fat heads.

He had a tryout in Miami, and they passed despite a weak WR roster.

You're comparing apples to oranges as far experience goes. Da'Rick got a bigger chance since Colts had more guys injured. Yet after his one breakout game, his time & production have decreased while Hogan's has increased. He'll probably land on a team somewhere, but like Ramses Barden will struggle to stick on a roster.

And I don't hate Rogers. I hated that people acted like we cut Randy Moss. I hated that fans thought he should be given a pass to make a team because of one college season. He should have earned it on his own and he didn't.

We have a winner!

You can't have it both ways. You were saying that he wasn't getting targeted and now you are saying he has been given more of an opportunity. Which is it? So far, one has produced and has a history of production and the other has not and doesn't.
