C.Biscuit97 Posted August 20, 2014 Posted August 20, 2014 Nothing like the realization that your career might be coming to an end to bring out 100% focus and effort to maximize your talent. Here's to Henderson staying on the path and realizing every bit of his potential. I really hope this is the case with him and Mike Williams. They are the anti-Da'Ricks.

Here's to Henderson staying on the path and realizing every bit of his potential. Certainly doesn't always happen; I hope he keeps himself on the right course. Interesting quote by Marrone and stresses the question that has been being asked here lately, what do they do with CK? Marrone talked him up a bit, hard to tell how real it is, but no matter how he is currently playing, if the plan is for Henderson to start at RT, is CK going to just be groomed for a backup, or are they going to push him at another position? BTW, for those that are down on Marrone for his interviews, there is a clear difference between his press conferences and other interviews. I'll say it again, I don't blame him.
1B4IDie Posted August 20, 2014 Posted August 20, 2014 (edited) I really hope this is the case with him and Mike Williams. They are the anti-Da'Ricks. That Bucks team was run by a bunch of Jamokes. In 2012 Josh Freeman was a 4000 yard QB, Mike Williams, Vincent Jackson, and Doug Martin were all tearing it up. Levonte David and Mason Foster were beasts. Even Rosoe Parrish had like a 10 yard punt return average. Then they Blew it up instead of staying the course. Mike Williams' off the field issues are far over-stated. I'm not worried in the least about Mike Williams getting into trouble off the field. He never, when healthy, had a problem on the field. It looks like the GM might have done their homework on these two. Edited August 20, 2014 by Why So Serious?

Whaley said in his interview that CK has had some difficulty with the transition from LT to RT. I'm suspected that this was the case and am not at all surprised given that he's relatively new to playing football.
1B4IDie Posted August 20, 2014 Posted August 20, 2014 (edited) I haven't listened yet. It looks like he spoke for a few minutes. I will set the over under on obviouslys at 33.5. I would have gone with 3.5 but that is too low. I have the under. I just hit play. Oh wait there is one. I noticed he is trying to choke them back this year. I think he is working on cutting them back. Ok there is one pause that would have normally been an obviously but he cut it off. Edit: Just finished. It 18 minutes it might have only been single digits! That has got to be a record for Marrone. See everyone can improve over time. If you, obviously, work hard. Kelly the Dog Posted August 20, 2014 Posted August 20, 2014 Disagree. I don't believe I've ever heard Marrone gush over a player like he did Henderson in this interview. Yeah, agree. It's not only the words but how he says them. I thought the same thing. He loves Henderson. He's our starter on opening day at RT barring injury. Marrone basically confirmed it in that interview.

I'm actually in the minority that doesn't expect rookies to be up to NFL speed and perfect. My question is more focused on what to do with the guy that appears to be number 3 on the depth chart (of course this is all assuming Marrone's remarks are true). So going on the assumption that Glenn and Henderson are the starters, should the team continue to groom CK as a tackle and let him be a rotational guy/backup to one or both positions, or should they try to get him in the starting lineup at Guard?

My guess is that Hairston would be the swing OT ahead of CK. They, IMO, keep CK at OT and let him continue to develop.

Were the 'obviously's' and 'You know's' brought to his attention at some point?
1B4IDie Posted August 20, 2014 Posted August 20, 2014 Yeah, agree. It's not only the words but how he says them. I thought the same thing. He loves Henderson. He's our starter on opening day at RT barring injury. Marrone basically confirmed it in that interview. I like what he said about CK and the tackle position too. He said to paraphrase, You could play 70 plays at tackle. In 67 just completely dominate the opponent by in 3 plays if you give up 3 sacks and 1 ends the game everyone will say you had a terrible game and you suck. Even though for 67 of the of the plays you may have dominated and he likened that to being a CB and giving up big plays. Interesting thought. I think it is clear that the roles reversed. Henderson is the Week 1 starter and CK is the development Tackle and guess what that is A-OK. It is a great place to be.
34-78-83 Posted August 20, 2014 Posted August 20, 2014 No one doubted Henderson's physical abilities. All 32 teams doubted his mental makeup. If Henderson keeps his head on straight he has the potential for a very long career and a lot of money. I wish him the best and hope he remembers which team gave him a real chance when it is time to extend his contract. BTW Seantrel Henderson was part of the Bryce Brown trade. It looks like just Seantrel is worth a 2015 4th round pick alone. Meaning we traded Stevie Johnson for Seantrel Henderson and Bryce Brown. That Whaley is a smooth operator. He sure is but remember the whole staff should be fired if EJ doesnt develop
1B4IDie Posted August 20, 2014 Posted August 20, 2014 Haha. Were the 'obviously's' and 'You know's' brought to his attention at some point? I think it was, obviously, obvious, to everyone, that obvious was his crutch word. Obviously, I'm sure they have soft skills, and media training for coaches. The over use of teh word obviously would have, obviously, been pointed out. I'm obviously just guessing though.

The first time he mentioned it he said Glenn and Henderson could become the best tandem in the league. The second time he said it he said they could become one of the best tandems in the league and you can quote me on that. He doesn't usually say stuff like that. Although that was a terrible example he gave on CK. If you give up three sacks in a game you do suck and had a terrible game, even if you did well on the 67 other plays.

Given o line is as much his expertise as anything, it's truely exciting to think the bills could have top notch bookends. That could have very positive implications for off tackle runners like spiller and brown, as well as the passing game. I Marrone has really cut down on the overuse of obviously, okay, and ya know. Great to see him improve his mechanics. I for one never had a problem with the fact that so much of football was obvious to him.

I Agreed, and I hope this allows them to focus just a little more of the running game outside as opposed to up the gut with little push.

How's it been working with Jim Schwartz? GREAT! What's different about last year? Everything. The second response validates the rocky relationship he had with Pettine...that I always suspected.
Dragonborn10 Posted August 20, 2014 Posted August 20, 2014 Great. Now they have the justification to not pay Glenn. Glenn deserves to be top 3 paid LT. Whaley had better pay him now or it will be Peters all over again. If CK shows anything in next game he will be swing tackle. If not then he goes to IR and Hairston stays.

Yup, the Bills were totally 100% at fault for the Peters thing. Also, what does an issue from 5 years ago have to do with the current Bills? Whaley was in Pittsburgh forwarding porn 5 years ago.

This is your actual takeaway from the Bills praise for Henderson? Also, the Bills are not going to IR CK with some phantom injury. He'll be on the 53 man roster to continue development, but will be inactive for at least the 1st half of the season barring injury to the OTs ahead of him.
