Whew, that's great to hear. But yeah, next week will be the real test.

BREAKING: A source tells EWN HOF QB Jim Kelly received encouraging news today but has to go back next week for a biopsy.

Kelly Strong....nuff said....wish him well.

Great news!

Maybe someone who knows can answer this but if the scan results are good, why is a biopsy needed?

Scans can still be inconclusive. A biopsy is the only way to be sure the cancer cells are gone.

Obviously I hope & pray for the best for Jim and his family, but didn't he get an all clear prior to this last bout?

Cancer can be a difficult diagnosis. We pray that if he gets "good news" that it is in fact correct.

I'm rooting for Jim like everyone else. But this form of cancer when it spreads to the sinus cavity is extremely difficult to treat. And, the obvious fear is that it spreads into the brain. Jim in luckier than most in that he can afford the very best care available. So, that will certainly help him in this battle. Kelly strong.

Scans are less invasive and easier, but obviously don't have the same resolution to the microscopic scale as a biopsy would. But if the scan is positive, then you don't have to go through the invasive biopsy.

On the flip side, if the scan is negative, you still don't know if there is microscopic disease still there, so you need the biopsy.
