Best Player Available Posted August 18, 2014 Posted August 18, 2014 Anyone got the over/under on how long Williams lasts at LG?
klos63 Posted August 18, 2014 Posted August 18, 2014 You know, it's amazing that professional scouts and GMs of NFL teams cannot figure out who might be able to play in the league before they draft them. Imagine if an engineer was this dumb and didn't know how to build the foundation of a bridge. The guy the Bills pick in 2nd round is a dud and the one they pick in the 7th is starting! Just amazing. We need to hold the enthusiasm a bit on Henderson - the talent has always been there. He messes up off the field. So far so good on that end, but his ability was never really a big question mark, it was his attitude. And it was a big enough problem to scare away every other team. Remember , he was busted smoking pot at the combines. Not too sharp.

Yes, comparing steel to a human being. Outstanding job...
FLFan Posted August 18, 2014 Posted August 18, 2014 I agree, although at this stage it may be more of an unhappiness with Legursky as the only legit backup center -- this being a means of evaluating Urbik as the backup. I think that is certainly a factor, along with Urbik having taken a significant step backward last year from which he does not appear to have recovered.
3rdand12 Posted August 18, 2014 Posted August 18, 2014 Whoo! I'm thrilled to see Glenn back in team drills. That gives him a few weeks to get back up to speed and I'm happy to see Henderson at RT. yes to both. A resounding yes !
Solomon Grundy Posted August 18, 2014 Posted August 18, 2014 First team OL in practice (granted, warm ups) tonight: glenn LT Williams LG Wood C pears RG Henderson RT Glad it appears they're shaking it up I'm just glad they realized that Urbik and Legursky were the "weakest links"
Maury Ballstein Posted August 18, 2014 Posted August 18, 2014 This cannot happen Turbo says Pears doesnt have the ass for RG Does J-lo ?
CSBill Posted August 18, 2014 Posted August 18, 2014 Sounds like the message is that the best five will play. And that is as it should be
Solomon Grundy Posted August 18, 2014 Posted August 18, 2014 Hope they try Kouandjio inside. What could it hurt?
Deranged Rhino Posted August 18, 2014 Posted August 18, 2014 As much as I despise Pears at RT (and he's terrible as a tackle), he could be almost decent at RG. Almost.
Buffalo_Stampede Posted August 18, 2014 Posted August 18, 2014 Our best 4 on the field. Glenn, Pears, Wood, and Henderson. Richardson and Urbik to push Williams. I like it. Hope Pears can handle the interior power guys though, could be trouble being 6'8.
Miyagi-Do Karate Posted August 19, 2014 Posted August 19, 2014 As much as I despise Pears at RT (and he's terrible as a tackle), he could be almost decent at RG. Almost. It's funny that when Fitz was QB and Chan head coach, everyone was very cool with both Urbik and Pears on the right side, and the FO re-signed both guys to longish-term deals. Now, suddenly, they both are terrible?

Hope Pears can handle the interior power guys though, could be trouble being 6'8. Him being tall has less to do with it than his lack of heart, skill, and hand/footwork. That said, I'm all for trying him at RG. The best case scenario though would be to cut him and let New England grab him.

Now, suddenly, they both are terrible? Players play at the same level forever with no regression?

juno999 Posted August 19, 2014 Posted August 19, 2014 Glad to see Glenn back and a chance to see Henderson at RT. Didn't Urbik play center a couple of years ago when Wood was out hurt?
Steve O Posted August 19, 2014 Posted August 19, 2014 Expecting Henderson to RT with Glenn back, but surprised to see Pears at RG. Is there anyone they haven't tried at RG yet? Kouandjio
Kelly the Dog Posted August 19, 2014 Posted August 19, 2014 Glad to see Glenn back and a chance to see Henderson at RT. Didn't Urbik play center a couple of years ago when Wood was out hurt? Yes, he definitely did, and he is the backup C now. I thought he played a little last year, too, when Wood was shaken up, but perhaps not.

Kind of reminds you of our 2nd/7th round picks in 2008 (Hardy, Stevie)
Miyagi-Do Karate Posted August 19, 2014 Posted August 19, 2014 Players play at the same level forever with no regression? In 2 years though? It's not as if they have hit an age wall or been injured. I don't want to turn this into an EJ thread, but one thing fitz did well was make the offensive line look better than they probably are.
