Since 1972 Posted August 18, 2014 Posted August 18, 2014 to you that football season has arrived? The one sound every year that reminds me it's football time is the sound of shotguns being discharged. I live in a rural area and Sept. 1 is always the start of dove hunting.
YoloinOhio Posted August 18, 2014 Posted August 18, 2014 I live behind a HS. When I start to hear the marching band practice during the day, it's time.
26CornerBlitz Posted August 18, 2014 Posted August 18, 2014 When crickets begin to chirp at night. You know football season is on the horizon.
LB3 Posted August 18, 2014 Posted August 18, 2014 (edited) It's never been a sound for me. It's always been a smell and feel. When you wake up in the morning and go outside and there is a nip in the air and you smell the damp grass after a chilly night, it's football time. Edited August 18, 2014 by KikoSeeBallKikoGetBall

A couple days ago I woke up and looked outside and thought to myself "Self, you really need to find a patch of pavement, set up the grill, and knock back a few Blues." Over 29 years of fanhood Posted August 18, 2014 Posted August 18, 2014 Crackling/blowing of dry leaves when walking outside. Even though leaves are many weeks from turning, they start dropping already

Every time I cook on my grill it says football...

BringBackFergy Posted August 18, 2014 Posted August 18, 2014 When I am raking the different colored leaves in the backyard (yellow, brown, reddish brown) and then I take a step and feel a "squish" only to look down and find a pile of my dog's **** that wasn't picked up under a few leaves ...I mutter to myself "son of a B word"....that's the sound that reminds me football is around the corner.

metzelaars_lives Posted August 18, 2014 Posted August 18, 2014 (edited) Dove hunters. I know I was just kidding. Big dove hunter here myself. I'm grinding my chops til dove hunting season, believe me. Whenever I see one them peaceful bastards, the first thing I think is man, that thing deserves to die. Nothing makes me feel like more of a man than splattering the brains of those little fellas across a clear September sky. Edited August 18, 2014 by metzelaars_lives

metzelaars_lives Posted August 18, 2014 Posted August 18, 2014 Is it safe to assume you don't eat meat? No I eat it every day. I am perfectly comfortable with the supposed hypocrisy in enjoying a cheeseburger yet also not wanting to shoot doves.
Campy Posted August 18, 2014 Posted August 18, 2014 When the tourists leave and we get to reclaim the beach.
Green Lightning Posted August 18, 2014 Posted August 18, 2014 When my wife asks me how soon will this "stupid football thing" will be over. No I eat it every day. I am perfectly comfortable with the supposed hypocrisy in enjoying a cheeseburger yet also not wanting to shoot doves. Cows aren't peaceful?
Proteus Posted August 18, 2014 Posted August 18, 2014 How funny is it that Summer is almost over and we don't even care because it means football is almost here?
