7boogiewoogie Posted August 17, 2014 Posted August 17, 2014 Anybody else digging the new point after TD rule? Yes!
section122 Posted August 17, 2014 Posted August 17, 2014 Yes!!! It actually matters and adds a margin of error element that was missing before.
Max997 Posted August 17, 2014 Posted August 17, 2014 I like it as well, most would still be made but less automatic.
nucci Posted August 17, 2014 Posted August 17, 2014 bad snap or fumbled snap and there's no chance for a 2 pointer. It is only for first 2 games. Interesting to see if they adopt it.
KRT88 Posted August 17, 2014 Posted August 17, 2014 doesn't matter because it ends tonight. Only for 1st two weeks of preseason. though we know there were two missed PAT. Last season I believe there were three missed all season. I would say it is likely to get adopted. I'd like to see them move the 2 point conversion to the 1 yard line. The rule also eliminates the Chip Kelly line up wide formation.
Bangarang Posted August 17, 2014 Posted August 17, 2014 (edited) I like it. I actually found myself watching XPs instead of doing some thing else. I think it adds an interesting element especially in the winder months when it is wet and windy. Edited August 17, 2014 by Bangarang
frostbitmic Posted August 17, 2014 Posted August 17, 2014 After the TD is the time to get rid of my old beer and grab a new beer, have a smoke etc .... Extra points are boring, kickoffs out of the end zone are boring .... That's about 5-7 minutes of ads with 5 seconds of football.
Mike in Horseheads Posted August 17, 2014 Posted August 17, 2014 No... stop messing with the game NFL! And the new rule on DB's and taunting has to go also, penalty's on every other play sucks.
nucci Posted August 17, 2014 Posted August 17, 2014 Just eliminate the XP. Place ball at the 1 and make 2 point try mandatory. Will make games a bit more exciting.
Bills fan since 87 Posted August 17, 2014 Posted August 17, 2014 Thought I'd dislike it at first but did a 180. Adds an element of skill and drama to an otherwise meaningless play.
Chandler#81 Posted August 17, 2014 Posted August 17, 2014 I like it. Hope the League institutes it. The days of OL being also being your PK were over 35 years ago. Make it a challenge again.
Miyagi-Do Karate Posted August 17, 2014 Posted August 17, 2014 Is there a chance they could institute it this season?
Mike in Horseheads Posted August 17, 2014 Posted August 17, 2014 Is there a chance they could institute it this season? Don't ask for what you might get, if this team scores a TD it will need that auto 1 point because getting 2 is doubtful.
QCity Posted August 17, 2014 Posted August 17, 2014 I don't care for it. I don't like any rules that put more emphasis on special teams though.
The Dean Posted August 17, 2014 Posted August 17, 2014 I like it. I don't like Belicheat's idea of placing the ball at the 25, but the 15 seems about right. No longer automatic. Is there a chance they could institute it this season? Don't think so. But they do test out things for future years. The poster who said "it doesn't matter because it ends tonight" is wrong. If the NFL deems it a success it might return for real next year.

I thought I heard one of the announcers last night say something like: this was the last week in the preseason they would be doing this, but they would decide in the next couple of weeks if they are going to go with it during the regular season. That seems like too quick a time scale for the NFL, but I'm pretty sure that's what I heard them say.
Buffalo Barbarian Posted August 17, 2014 Posted August 17, 2014 Anybody else digging the new point after TD rule? Yes! NO! its stupid. get rid of the extra point all together unless you want to go for two

The Wiz Posted August 17, 2014 Posted August 17, 2014 NO! its stupid. get rid of the extra point all together unless you want to go for two So get rid of the automatic 1 point and make 2pt conversions the norm? I think the move has been good but at the same time it doesn't give a team the option of faking it. Faking from the 2 is a bit easier than faking from the 15. From a percentage stance it changed from 99.5 to 95. Not a big drop but that's about 4 times per weekend from what I've read.
