johnwalter Posted August 11, 2014 Posted August 11, 2014 I have a PPR fantasy draft coming up in the next few days and I'm giving Spiller a look as a late 3rd round, early 4th round option. Last year, I stayed away from Spiller (top-5 was just too high for the kid), but this year, he's going around pick 34 - which seems like good value, especially in a PPR format. My worry is that he'll score < 5 TDs because Hackett will play either Dixon or Freddy once the offense gets down to the redzone. Spiller has looked hot in the preseason, but he hasn't stayed in the games long enough to determine whether he'll get a share of the redone carries, so my question to you is (especially for those of you who attend training camp at John Fisher)... Has Spiller been taking redzone reps in training camp, or are all carries beyond the 10-yard line given exclusively to Boobie and Freddy?
The Big Cat Posted August 11, 2014 Posted August 11, 2014 I think Spiller finds the endzone 5-8 times this year and that's whether his all purpose yards are 1200 or 1900.
todzilla Posted August 11, 2014 Posted August 11, 2014 I haven't been to SJF at all but I think CJ is a nice value in FF this year. The touchdowns will come, maybe on long runs but I agree with Cat that he will be back around 6-10 scores. He's healthy, motivated and in a contract year.
YoloinOhio Posted August 11, 2014 Posted August 11, 2014 I do not see him getting any goal line carries. However, I did see they were running some plays at camp where EJ was throwing it to him in the red zone and he scored.
CountryCletus Posted August 11, 2014 Posted August 11, 2014 Agree- 5-8 TD's, 1200 yards 40 rec... 5th round pick... Maybe late 4th...
todzilla Posted August 11, 2014 Posted August 11, 2014 I think if he's your #2 RB and you get him in the 4th round you are getting great value. He may have a few stinkers but will also have some huge games.
YoloinOhio Posted August 11, 2014 Posted August 11, 2014 Cuff with Fred late ok I keep seeing this term and I am only a novice at FF. What does the handcuffs term refer to in FF?
Captain Caveman Posted August 11, 2014 Posted August 11, 2014 ok I keep seeing this term and I am only a novice at FF. What does the handcuffs term refer to in FF? It means picking up the guy most likely to get the workload if your guy goes down, so that if CJ is hurt, you're not screwed.
YoloinOhio Posted August 11, 2014 Posted August 11, 2014 It means picking up the guy most likely to get the workload if your guy goes down, so that if CJ is hurt, you're not screwed. ah! That makes total sense. Thanks.
CountryCletus Posted August 11, 2014 Posted August 11, 2014 It means picking up the guy most likely to get the workload if your guy goes down, so that if CJ is hurt, you're not screwed. This... It also mitigates your loss on an earlier pick... Don't handcuff all your players- just the ones that have quality backups or that are in a time share as it is... Don't aim to select bills players... Maybe take Sammy in the 8th or 9th round in a 10 team league, but only as your 3rd WR.... QB's typically score the most points... WR's are deep and RB's are few and far between, McCoy, Charles, ap, and forte are the too 4 for PPR.... Stay away from Alfred Morris, unless you can get him as your 3....

Johnny Hammersticks Posted August 11, 2014 Posted August 11, 2014 I wouldn't touch any of the Bills' RB's unless the value was tremendous.
Miyagi-Do Karate Posted August 12, 2014 Posted August 12, 2014 I wouldn't touch any of the Bills' RB's unless the value was tremendous. Agreed. The one nice waiver wire guy might be Bryce brown if Jackson and spiller get dinged up, which is likely.
YoloinOhio Posted August 12, 2014 Posted August 12, 2014 Agreed. The one nice waiver wire guy might be Bryce brown if Jackson and spiller get dinged up, which is likely. interestingly I had Bryce Brown last year when he was on the Eagles.

KD in CA Posted August 12, 2014 Posted August 12, 2014 Stay away unless he drops much further. The Bills will utilize the dreaded RBBC.
FireChan Posted August 12, 2014 Posted August 12, 2014 All Bills RB's are going to go the way of Carolina's RB's. Worthless in terms of fantasy. One week, one will play well, the next week, he will be invisible. I wouldn't even waste a pick on them before the 6th.
Maury Ballstein Posted August 12, 2014 Posted August 12, 2014 Spiller will be fine in a ppr league as a rb2. I'm snatching him up when I can if he doesn't get drafted too high. I still remember the monster numbers he gave me in '12.
