According to most hosts / contributors on WGR the sky is falling because EJ continues to struggle in camp.

To that I am completely contrary (at this point) and see no reason to throw in the towell.

So far- here is what we do know (facts not opinion):

*Our defense is pretty good- on both QB hurries and receiver coverage.

*EJ has been hurried- often.

*The receivers have not shown an ability to get any separation.

*EJ has played 5/8 of a regular season and 1/4 of 1 preseason game.

*Inadequate time to develop timing relationship with receivers.

*Scott Chandler was his favorite target at 6-ft-7. Where are any other taller receivers? Aside from Lee Smith and Chris Summers (6'-5") and Tori Gurley (6'-4") the remaining (9) receivers on the current roster are 6-3 or shorter, 3 of them are 6' or shorter.

So we have a QB who has played 5/8 of a season, a second year training camp vs. a very good defense that hurries and covers well, and receivers that are on the short side that haven't been able to separate yet experienced on-air reporters are calling for the hook (along with many impatient fans)?

So EJ's struggles are a good thing?

Right now, YES! The question is will he learn to overcome such struggles? Practicing is how we learn. There is a famous quote out there "Practice makes perfect"

"The Sky is Falling!" attitude has been here at TBD for a very long time now.

Good news isn't news. Why do you think Howard Simon is always asking if we should freak out over whatever is being discussed?

EJ is paid for results, not excuses. Your analysis is just a bunch of excuses. Clearly the guy is not showing the improvement one would expect from his second training camp.

And it was the renown football "expert" Paul Hamilton hitting the panic button on the afternoon show. The only intelligent thing he said was that "Marrone knows a heck of a lot more about football than I do". He then went to second guess everything Marrone does in handling EJ, including suggesting that EJ should have played at least the entire half of the first preseason game, because he needs it for his "confidence". Of course, had Mike Williams held on to that TD pass, or if Watkins beat his man on that bomb, Paul would be singing a different song. If EJ needs confidence, he can look back on some of the great throws he made in the regular season last year. Or reflect that as a rookie QB, in a brand new offense, he

achieved a QB rating of 77, a whole 10 points less than Brady's 87, running the same offense he has for a decade.

Wasn't the panic last year over the fact that Mario Williams sat out the first week of practices? 14 sacks later, the panic was gone.

just answer the questions-

hurried?

separation by receivers?

enough time to develop timng with receivers?

it takes a team to win.

I'm sorry, but 5/8 of a regular season, last year's preseason, this year's preseason and a full professional off season should be enough to at least look comfortable during practice. I'm not a "Tuel is better than EJ" guy, but c'mon, if he looks shakey in practice that's a serious problem.
