No one has explained so far why the NFL would so blithely walk away from the 100s of millions of dollars that would not be able to follow the franchise to Toronto. This is particularly the case when the articulated strategy of the NFL is to expand the product and the NFL can have both the already captured millions from the Buffalo franchise AND the likely but as yet uncaptured $ from a Toronto franchise.

Why would the NFL which clearly is motivated by getting $ walk away from the already captured 100s of millions from the Buffalo franchise?

It's not the NFL's decision, is it?

At the end of the day they can't compete with Pegula in the $ department. Are they really going to leave hundreds of millions of dollars on the table because they think Jim Kelly is a swell guy? All this is doing is driving the price up higher. It's good for the trust but in the end it is only hurting our chances of getting a new stadium

Why would you assume that the group is only 2?

Oh I'm sure it's much more than 2 but $10 MIL here and $20 MIL there won't get it done vs Pegula. Plus the NFL model is 1 cash flush billionaire owner. Once you have a bunch of hands in the cookie jar things get difficult (mmm cookies!)

Under a Pegula ownership, if retained Brandon will not have responsibility for player personnel and he certainly won't be involved in player personnel with Sabres.

I don't believe there are 8 bidders. MS was getting reamed for their handling of the sale and it magically goes from 3 to 8 overnight? I believe there are 5 bidders. First off, the Bills are not moving in 5 years, 10 years, 20 years, regardless of who buys the team. They won't be sold to anyone who intends to move them- ever. Period. End of story. Here's who I believe the bidders are and ranked in terms of ultimately having the winning bid.

1. The Pegulas. 80%

2. Tom Golisano 10%

3. Gundlach/Kelly 5%

4. Donald Trump 3%

5. Bon Jovi/Toronto 1%

6-8. Unknown Phantom Bidders 1%

I think that there is a group that is in the top 3 that would be classified in the unkown phantom column. They are very large and interested.

Bob and Mindy Rich seem like a possibility to me. At least I've always though they could be there to step up when this moment came. Has money and very successful business that keeps growing. And I'm willing to bet he would keep the team here and commit to it.

I'm not sure but they may very well be involved.

The group that I am alluding to is by FAR the biggest in terms of $. It is just something to keep an eye on as this thing plays out.

Bon Jovi Group still not approved to advance to next round of bidding

And this from the article

News that up to five new, finalist bidders might suddenly be in the mix was met with no small amount of skepticism.

“I don’t know if it’s real. We’re in weirdo world at this point,” said one informed source close to the Bills sale process.

“It’s all crap,” another charged flatly.

Adding to the skepticism, by late Thursday rumblings began to circulate that no management meeting took place on Thursday, because an unnamed “L.A. guy” never showed up.

So, thanks largely to those informative reports out of Buffalo, your Bills-sale scorecard looked like this by late Thursday night:

Two known finalist bidders, one new bidder, one bidder in limbo (Bon Jovi/Toronto) and perhaps up to four additional, unknown bidders.

Got that?

Phillip Anschutz or if I'm being dumb, Warren Buffett

There arent that many people who have WAY more than 5 billion dollars and half of them are Waltons it seems. It'd be cool if someone like Phil Knight came out of the blue. We'd have interesting uniforms for certain.

The Rich's have more money than I thought they did btw. I don't see how the Jacobs' could be involved w.o divesting their casinos which they wont. But the Rich's in cahoots with a Stan Druckenmiller would be a lot of bank

To those of you that are panicking. I, too, would love to see Pegs win the bid, but as of now we don't really know if he is indeed the highest bidder. It's all just speculation.

MS and the trust are doing their due diligence. Yes, the wait is painful to us hardcore fans, but it's business. God forbid something happens to Terry P or if he decides to back away from the negotiating table, they (the trust) need a fallback plan.

Until we know for sure just take solace in the fact that it appears the trust is looking for an owner that will keep the team where it belongs, here in Buffalo.

There are 5 more bidders, but this shouldn't worry us, because as of today the JBJ and TO group are being left out of the sales process because they haven't sufficiently assured the trust that they will stay in Buffalo.

I trust TP and Jim's group equally. Jim Kelly won't move the team further than Niagara Falls and TP will probably build a stadium downtown. I'll take either one.

Where has the Jacobs family gone? Haven't heard about them in a while.

Jacobs said they won't sell the Bruins, which they would have to to own the Bills

Says who? I'm being serious when I ask that question.

I'm going to guess this is a tech group. Assuming it is, and if you'll indulge me, could I learn about it on "Facebook," should I "google" it, or would it be best that I "twitter" it to learn more?

Nope never been banned, you continue to pull things out of thin air. And I am NO ONES apprentice much less yours since I've done nothing but repeated PWN you since I came on here.. you just don't know when to quit.

You seem overly fascinated with the number of posts people have. I could care less, you either make good solid points, supported by logic and facts, or you don't.

And for the record its not because you have a different opinion its that you can't back it up with facts. And the only facts which are shaky at best all point to the team going to Pegula.

Ok not sure if you actually meant to say this, but here's a news flash for you, the team is GOING TO BE SOLD. My point was and is that it is NO more likely to be sold to an Owner who is going to MOVE the team.

Again since you can't seem to follow a trail of bread crumbs, much less a logically constructed argument, There is NO proof that there are 8 bidders except the news reports, which have already been proved to be wrong once. we KNOW who 3 of the bidders are, and who 2 of the unknown 5 are ( most likely, Golisano and the property developer who wants to put the team in west Seneca) so IF we believe that there are 8 bidders, and we know that of them 5 are pretty much known to us, and 4 of them have stated unequivocally that they intend on keeping the team here. and the one that acted sketchy about it has been told that the only way there new bid will be accepted is if they make assurances that the team will remain here. I am not going to get spooked that maybe one of the three that are left have intentions to move the team, it’s pretty clear it’s not what the Trust wants, the League wants or what we want. If you’re going to believe the media reports you have to believe all of them or NONE of them. you can't cherry pick the stories that support your point of view while ignoring the ones that don't. Every media report has said and continues to say that Pegula is the front runner.

Until I hear differently, then I am not worried.

You asked for evidence.

  1. Pegula has repeatedly been shown to be the front runner (will never move the team)

  2. Golisano/trump/developer ( if he's even in the mix) have all said that intend to keep team here.

  3. BON Jovi has said he will keep team here, (I don't believe him and neither does the trust)

  4. IF the TRUST has asked BON JOVI for ASSURANCES that He has no intention of moving team, then it is illogical to assume that they will not demand the same Assurances from whomever else will attempt to Buy the team.

  5. All the evidence that we have is that the team is going to go to an Owner with a commitment to WNY.

  6. The league and the TRUST KNOW that it will be an unmitgated PR NIGHTMARE if team is sold to someone who trys to move it and THe league will most likely demand a commitment to build new stadium in region as commitment to area and woudl vote to block any attempt to move the team.

I'll conced that the seoncdhalf of point six is speculation on my part, BUT it's logical speculation.

you two knock it off.

The Jim Kelly Camp should get, "Where else would like to be but, Buffalo!" "When it's to tuff for Bon Jovi, it's just right for Kelly."
