Buffalo Barbarian Posted August 4, 2014 Posted August 4, 2014 We should have traded up for Bortles; "But Bortles did better than all right on his second possession, flashing some of the ability that made him the third overall pick in the draft. On first down from his own 2-yard line, Bortles lofted a pass down the left sideline to Mike Brown, dropping it over the defensive back for a 25-yard gain." He also says what a good QB should say; "I think it was all right," Bortles said of his performance. "I could have done a lot of things better. That’s part of it -- learn from my mistakes and try to improve."http://espn.go.com/blog/jacksonville-jaguars/post/_/id/7038/blake-bortles-starting-to-show-consistency This is what EJ says about his performance; “I thought I did a pretty good job when I was in,” Manuel said. “I thought the first unit, we did what we needed to do." http://www.buffalonews.com/sports/bills-nfl/manuel-has-a-lackluster-start-before-giving-way-to-tuel-in-preseason-opener-20140804?two-bills-drive
DukeyBomb Posted August 4, 2014 Posted August 4, 2014 (edited) I gussed I'd see some of this garbage on TBD after EJ's 1st pre-season game in his second year... Holy mother of god. Just stop it already. Edited August 4, 2014 by DukeyBomb
Hazed and Amuzed Posted August 4, 2014 Posted August 4, 2014 Geezus, it's like clockwork with you. Do you play fantasy football? Because I could definitely use a guy with your talent evaluation skills in my league.
Wayne Cubed Posted August 4, 2014 Posted August 4, 2014 I see you conveniently left out these quotes: "...and had another pass batted down at the line of scrimmage." "There were negative plays, too. There was a sack in which he held the ball too long. He called the wrong protections on a couple plays, and he hesitated on a deep pass that was nearly intercepted by safety Sherrod Martin." See, I can cherry pick quotes too. I find it funny that you say the Bills "should have traded up", who exactly were they going to trade with?
xsoldier54 Posted August 4, 2014 Posted August 4, 2014 I don't know about Bortles and how we might have traded up to get him, but the only Bills QB that played reasonably well was Tuel. It is way too early to panic with EJ and Lewis, but I would have liked to see both play better. Lewis In my opinion looked particularly bad. He needs to learn when to throw the fastball and when to take a little off. Most of his misses were totally uncatchable balls because he just put too much on them. I have seen that before from him, so hopefully someone will work with him on that. I am still optimistic about this team and it was only the first pre-season game, but damn it did look awfully familiar. Close game in the 4th Quarter, then someone makes a big mistake and the Bills find a way to lose again. Sorry, but it is like watching the same movie over and over again week in and week out. I am ready for a new movie.
mattsox Posted August 4, 2014 Posted August 4, 2014 I gussed I'd see some of this garbage on TBD after EJ's 1st pre-season game in his second year... Holy mother of god. Just stop it already. Agreed. Can the Mod's NUKE THIS THREAD!!!

RuntheDamnBall Posted August 4, 2014 Posted August 4, 2014 Did you say to yourself "how can I make the worst thread ever?", because it worked. I don't know, I think he said to himself, "can I own the top 5 worst threads?" Because Mario-for-Skelton and CJ-for-Brock Osweiler are right up there.
Hplarrm Posted August 4, 2014 Posted August 4, 2014 Yeah and we should have drafted Tom Brady in the 5th round the year he came out and Joe Montana in the 2nd (or even in the 1st would have been justifiable IF a lot of key things would have happened the same way except they were different). This type of woulda/coulda/shoulda is pretty worthless as a consideration.
Johnny Hammersticks Posted August 4, 2014 Posted August 4, 2014 Am I grossly out of bounds to suggest that BB should not be allowed to create threads related to "would have should have" personnel topics? Mario for Skelton...people never forget.
atlbillsfan1975 Posted August 4, 2014 Posted August 4, 2014 Did you say to yourself "how can I make the worst thread ever?", because it worked. Ha! He finds a way to say the worse things ever, And his QB evaluation is well documented to be worse than a blind donkey.
Over 29 years of fanhood Posted August 4, 2014 Posted August 4, 2014 Didn't anyone notice at the induction they already had a Bortles half way done based on that throw in practice?
MarkAF43 Posted August 4, 2014 Posted August 4, 2014 so basically instead of trading up for Sammy, we should've traded for Bortles? Please step back from the ledge.
