TheBrownBear Posted August 3, 2014 Posted August 3, 2014 Darick Holmes, RB. Guy was a 7th rounder and not expected to make the team, but he had a killer preseason and even had many fans calling for him to supplant Thurman as the starter. Had a good rookie year as the #2 back and gained 600 or so yards. Hit the wall in season 2 and was out of the league by 1998. Think he's in prison now. I thought he was going to be our next great running back.
You herd it hear last Posted August 3, 2014 Author Posted August 3, 2014 Gary Anderson lost the preseason battle to Mick-Mayer intentionally. Hard to call him a preseaon all-pro. He looked terrible because Ralph wouldn't let him get a reasonable contract. that seems like a reasonable rationale for removal from this list, especially his all time great type status as a player so I will grant him that
Kirby Jackson Posted August 3, 2014 Posted August 3, 2014 Ellis Lankster- Didn't he return to int's for td's in a preseason game. Another similar era- Justin Armor Another one I left out. Fast Freddie Smith. Killer pre-season KR Fast Freddie Smith is an AMAZING call!! He should captain this team. Wasn't his name Jonathan?
KollegeStudnet Posted August 3, 2014 Posted August 3, 2014 (edited) Jeff Burris was awesome in preseason as a rookie. Alex Vanpelt had a decent preseason run during/after Kelly & Reich left Edited August 3, 2014 by KollegeStudnet
Fixxxer Posted August 3, 2014 Posted August 3, 2014 Lionel Gates, RB, his helicopter TD was legendary.

Punch Posted August 4, 2014 Posted August 4, 2014 Carey Bender, Marv's other Coe College RB. I also remember being excited about Yonel Jourdain.
Charles Romes Posted August 4, 2014 Posted August 4, 2014 Shawne Merriman, 2 sacks and a hurry in 3 plays v. The Bears. Made it to the cover of the Bills site that night. Never to be heard from again.

PO'14 Posted August 4, 2014 Posted August 4, 2014 This Cowen dude did awesome tonight for the Bills at least we cant have Watkins on here after having 0 catches tonight\
You herd it hear last Posted August 4, 2014 Author Posted August 4, 2014 (edited) Quite the team you guys have put together. They could compile an excellent record in the WAC conference I'm sure. We still have BIG question marks at RT and DT. Apparently you're alright with the exceptional play at those positions over the years. Buftex Posted August 4, 2014 Posted August 4, 2014 Two guys I thought were going to be great NFL'ers for years to come: Nate Turner (RB/FB/TE) and Corey Moore (OLB). Turner was a pre-season stud, kind of a Christian Okoye type in the early 90's...did pretty close to nothing in the regular season...Corey Moore, undersized linebacker who was one of the best college lb's of his time (Oklahoma)...but he sucked for the BIlls...got cut, spent a few weeks with the Packers (IIRC), never to be heard from again...
