Defensive Scoring

Any other commissioners out there? First year I ran the league I messed with Defensive scoring and defenses scored way too much. Last year I over corrected. So what are some of your scoring settings?

Sack 1

Interception 2

Fumble Recovery 2

Touchdown 6

Safety 2

Block Kick 2

Points Allowed 0 points 10

Points Allowed 1-6 points 7

Points Allowed 7-13 points 4

Points Allowed 14-20 points 1

Points Allowed 21-27 points 0

Points Allowed 28-34 points -1

Points Allowed 35+ points -4

 

These are the settings in the one league I run; it looks a little heavy but we start 10 positions so it's reasonable. You could always eliminate the sack bonus or reduce turnovers to one point to lower D totals.

That looks similar to what I use except I also have points for yards allowed. Do you do anything with that or is it just these? What do defenses end up scoring for the year using this?

We chose to increase turnovers to 4 and include forth down stops, as they are turnovers, kind of... Too defenses score as much as good QB's.... It's a nice change

That is what I am looking to do. I want the defense spot to mean something not just be a couple of point bonus for everyone. What are the rest of your rules?
