Braedenstearns
Numbers -->Ian Rapoport @RapSheet 1m #Bills RB Fred Jackson just signed a one-year extension worth $2.6M with $1M additional in incentives, source says. Probably retire when this contract is through.
YoloinOhio
Mrags - stash this one away: Joe @BuffaloWins 3m Between carries, catches and KO returns, Fred has touched the ball 1,463 times. Thurman got to that number by year 5 of his career Probably retire when this contract is through. Yep
Kelly the Dog
Also, due to the timing, this somewhat bodes well for this coming season. There is zero doubt that Whaley and Marrone discussed this with Brandon and Littman and said, "Fred looks great out there. He hasn't lost a step. He could do this two more years." YoloinOhio
Ian Rapoport @RapSheet 1m #Bills RB Fred Jackson is in the last year of his contract. With $2.6M now on the books for 2015, he doesn't have to go into FA market at

The Underdog
I like it, he deserves it. There are very few warriors and leaders like Fred. I just hope this doesn't affect us resigning Spiller, I think our offense needs CJ.

Kelly the Dog
exactly! Him And Spiller are up at the same time now. Not really. Spiller's contract is going to end after this year in all likelihood. He has a player option for 2015.
Cash
Nice! Looks like a good deal for both sides. I wouldn't be surprised to see Spiller leave, but I don't think this means much in that regard. A 1-year extension at not-very-expensive money doesn't exactly lock down the position forever. Now if Bryce Brown was given a new contract, I think that would all but guarantee that Spiller's gone. xsoldier54
If this affects a deal with Spiller, I hate it. I do love some Fred Jackson, but man, we traded a top 5 back once, and if we lose spiller we'll probably see him excel elsewhere (maybe not top 5). Spiller has the potential to be great. Not so sure about his heart. Glad to have him on our team, but if we could get that 1st rounder back, I'd take it in a heartbeat. The reality is though that nobody will give up a number 1 for him. H2o
Good for Fred. He deserves to be a life-long Bills member,
Best Player Available
Not really. Spiller's contract is going to end after this year in all likelihood. He has a player option for 2015. No link but I thought he rejected that already? Good for Fred. He deserves to be a life-long Bills member, He will deserve too be on the wall too. Bob Malooga
But, he retires after only one season in Madden franchise mode! Seriously though, I am glad he will be here until the end of the road for him...he deserves to retire a Buffalo Bill, and soon after have his number put on "The Wall." Kelly the Dog
No link but I thought he rejected that already? He will deserve too be on the wall too. I doubt it but I guess it's possible. I don't recall seeing that. I would doubt if they made him decide before this season is up. He doesn't even have an agent yet.
Flip Johnson
Agree 100%...the role of Spiller and Fred (and Brown and Dixon) for that matter will be completely different. The Bills backfield will look like the Saints when Marrone was there. They had a bunch of guys that brought different skills. It may look like the Earth, Wind and Fire backfield that the Giants had a few years back. I love this. And Fred is not that old in football years. Pay the man. YoloinOhio
This --> Chris Trapasso @ChrisTrapasso 1m There prob. wouldn't have been big market for FJax next year at 34. But b/c it's cheap, #Bills rewarded him now instead of lowballng later.

Thurman got to that number by year 5 of his career Yep well. Freddy's only got 8 years in the league and the first 2 years he only touched the ball 58 times. Just sayin.
